Hello, I'm Matt Tommey, an Artist Mentor. Let me share with you an inspiring story about two artists, Trent and Kate Freeman. They've been in the art world for 28 years, crafting unique sculptures from materials like clay, wood, metal, and glass. They also create practical pieces like teapots and have recently ventured into painting.
Overcoming Artistic Challenges Initially, Trent and Kate focused on making art primarily for income, which unfortunately drained the joy from their work. They constantly worried about finances, which overshadowed their creative process. However, a significant change occurred when they started to incorporate their faith into their art. This shift brought them a sense of peace and revitalized their love for creating art. Blending Art, Belief, and Business Previously, Trent and Kate compartmentalized their lives: art, faith, and business were separate entities. But they learned an invaluable lesson: to intertwine these aspects, placing their spiritual beliefs at the heart of everything they do. This integration transformed their artistic journey into a harmonious and fulfilling path. The Power of Community Joining a community of artists was a turning point for them. In this group, they connected with other artists facing similar struggles, realizing they were not alone. This community provided growth opportunities not just in their art and business but also enriched their family lives. Artists Transformed Today, Trent and Kate are not just surviving as artists; they are thriving with a renewed sense of happiness and purpose in their work. Their experience demonstrates the profound impact of integrating faith into art and business. Join the Transformation Are you an aspiring artist looking to find joy and fulfillment in your craft? I am engaged in prayer/ conversation with God everyday. I am 65. Have raised a family with a loving partner. And love textiles. I don't know if I really want to make my hobby into a business. But I keep coming back to your programs. So inspiring. Thank you Matt. Also thanks to Trent and Kate for sharing their story. God Bless. Mary P.

Oh, do I know how you feel! Though I am struggling with the prayer/conversation with God. I do digital fabric design as a hobby. I make charity quilts (my piecing has gotten good, though my machine quilting has a ways to go) and I enjoy pouring love into each one. I did my very first commissioned quilt recently. What a ride, as it was bought by a Christian woman at our church as a baby gift for a family member! Though I was short on time to do it, I accepted the job. She gave me free rein to do it anyway I wanted. Custom printed panels cut out the piecing that I usually do, but allowed me to include designs from other designers that would have meaning to the family. It really was more than a baby quilt. People that saw it when I delivered it, thought it looked great, though I felt that the quilting could have been better. Perfect is overrated anyway. I got it done before this woman had to go into the hospital for surgery.

So thankful for CTT and the shift it has produced in my jewelry work. As Trent said " I was a professional artist for 27 yrs" and thought this is all there is to working in art. Struggle, lack and work not bringing in sufficient resources.

I love this couple and love to hear how majorly God is working in their lives. It brings hope to everybody else that God has a plan, a purpose and he’ll put people in our path to make that happen! I’m very grateful for the Mentoring program, it’s structure of lessons, available personal resources and Matt’s snd his team’s leadership! God bless you all!

I was fairly encouraged by Trent and Kate Freeman's testimony. However, I was disappointed that, although they discussed the "before" and the "after," they did not provide insight into the "process" they went through to get from the "before" to the "after." It would have been very beneficial to the rest of us strugglers if they had shared at least some of the milestones in their progress that would show us how and why Matt's program could lead to our own success.
