If you’ve ever felt like the art world pushes you to go faster, produce more, and keep up with an exhausting pace—you’re not alone. The truth is, hustle culture isn’t just stressful; it’s completely opposite to the way God designed us to thrive. Jesus invites us in Matthew 11:28-30 MSG to walk with Him and “learn the unforced rhythms of grace.” That means our creativity doesn’t have to be driven by anxiety or comparison. Instead, it can flow naturally from a place of peace and partnership with Him.
This week’s focus on grace-paced creativity is a reminder that slowing down isn’t failure—it’s wisdom. Just like nature operates in seasons, our creative lives have rhythms of rest, growth, and harvest. By embracing the pace God sets, you’ll not only avoid burnout, but you’ll find deeper joy, peace, and longevity in your creative calling.
May this week be filled with intentional reflection, creative breakthroughs, and meaningful connection with the Creator who put that beautiful imagination inside you.

Special Feature: The Core4 Focus Planner
One of the most powerful ways to embrace grace-paced creativity is by building a rhythm that helps you Connect with God, Clarify your goals, Create consistently, and Cultivate relationships. That’s exactly why I designed the Core4 Focus Planner—a tool to keep you aligned, inspired, and on track without the overwhelm.
If you’re ready to organize your life and art practice around God’s priorities instead of culture’s pressures, this planner will be a game-changer.
Scripture: Matthew 11:28-30 – “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
God’s invitation is simple: come to Him. Creativity born from striving drains us, but creativity born from His presence renews us. Rest isn’t laziness; it’s the fertile ground where inspiration flourishes and peace reigns.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for inviting me to walk at Your pace. Teach me to release the weight of striving and receive the gift of rest in You. Let my creativity flow from Your rhythms of grace, not my own pressure. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Spiritual Action Step: Begin each studio session this week by reading Matthew 11:28-30 aloud, inviting Jesus to set the pace of your day.
CLARIFY
Slowing down gives us space to discern what really matters. Without clarity, it’s easy to run hard in the wrong direction, exhausting yourself on projects and commitments that don’t align with God’s call. Grace-paced creativity means you stop measuring success by speed and start measuring it by alignment.
Practical Action Step: Write down your top three creative priorities for this season. Ask yourself: Which of these is God truly highlighting right now? Give yourself permission to focus on that one priority this week.
CREATE
Your studio doesn’t need to be a place of constant output. It can be a sanctuary where joy and peace flow freely. When you slow down, you’ll notice textures, colors, and techniques that might have gone unnoticed in the rush. This presence-centered creativity produces art that carries life.
Studio Action Step: Set a timer for 45 minutes. Create slowly and intentionally—no multitasking, no rushing. Pay attention to the small details and enjoy the process without pressure to finish.
CULTIVATE
Audiences today are weary of noise and speed. They long for authenticity, presence, and connection. When you share your creative journey at a slower, more thoughtful pace, you invite your community into something refreshing. Grace-paced creativity doesn’t just bless you—it blesses those who experience your art.
Outreach Action Step: Post one thoughtful reflection this week about what slowing down has done for your art. Invite your followers to comment on how they’re seeking rest in their own lives.
CapCut empowers artists to create professional-quality videos without needing a big learning curve. It’s perfect for showcasing your process in a way that feels polished but personal.
Pro Tip: Record a simple 30-second video of your hands creating or prepping your artwork. Use CapCut to trim, add soft background music, and overlay a caption like “Grace-Paced Creativity.” Share it on Instagram Reels or Facebook to connect with your audience in a meaningful way.

Old Chapel, New Life: Lincoln’s “Art Chapel” Opens Its Doors
Hey creative friends! Here’s a beautiful picture of art breathing life into a neighborhood. In Lincoln, Nebraska, students from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln teamed up with F Street Neighborhood Church to transform a 150-year-old chapel into a flexible community arts center. They designed the space with smart, simple features—custom tables with outlets, discreet storage, and even a sliding wall that opens the studio to the deck so the public can watch creativity in motion. (Read More)
The results are already rippling: weekly open studios, First Friday shows, family art camps, knitting groups, and expanded art sessions with an addiction-recovery partner. It’s a gorgeous reminder for us as Kingdom creatives: sometimes the most powerful “art piece” is the environment we create for others to discover their God-given creativity.
Faith takeaway: Consider how your studio or church could become an invitation—host an open table, curate a mini-showcase, or make one small change that makes creating together easier. Little changes can create a big impact.
Why not consider starting a small group this Fall using some of our incredible resources for Kingdom artists including the new Foundations Course Book? You just might be the door opener someone needs to start stepping into their creative call.
Have you been caught in an endless cycle of hustle and disappointment? This week’s podcast invites you to step off that treadmill and embrace Jesus’ invitation to “learn the unforced rhythms of grace.”
Instead of striving to meet cultural standards of success, you’ll learn how to operate from the inside out—grounded in God’s truth and led by His Spirit. Through the Core4 Focus framework and a recognition of creative seasons, you’ll discover that slowing down is not the end of productivity—it’s the start of fruitfulness.
Key Takeaway: True success as an artist isn’t about working harder; it’s about walking at God’s pace and creating from a place of rest.

“Be Still and Know” – Housefires (Live)
This beautiful worship song captures the heart of Matthew 11:28-30, reminding us that rest and trust in God are the foundation of a thriving creative life. As you listen, let the simple refrain wash over you and become a rhythm in your studio time this week: be still, and know that He is God.
For Created to Thrive member Elizabeth Van Tassel, art has always been a part of her life, but in this new season, God has transformed her creative calling into a source of ministry and community. A painter of watercolor gouache landscapes and a graduate gemologist, Elizabeth is launching Elizabeth Van Tassel Studios alongside her husband as they enter their empty-nester years. What began as a hobby has grown into a flourishing business with juried art and craft fairs, private showcases, and a line of jewelry in development.
“Matt’s mentoring program gave me the courage and tools to move from painting as a hobby into a business. The advice on everything from websites to mindset has been invaluable.”
She goes on to say, “ALL of your advice has been invaluable in setting up the website, learning the how-to’s step by step, not feeling alone in moving from painting since my teens to using it as a hobby for so long, to launching my business this year as we are empty nesters.”
Her process is prayer-infused from start to finish: “The perspective while creating art to not only spend time and seek the Lord in the process of painting—but KEY THING—pray for those who see the artwork and eventually purchase it for their lives to be touched with what the Holy Spirit wants to infuse it with. This has been flat AMAZING to see women and even men come to tears in our booth this summer.”
That commitment has led to powerful God-moments. At one festival, a little girl named Lilly was captivated by a painting of a lily pad at sunset, later returning with her missionary family. Another day, a woman in a wheelchair rolled up to Elizabeth’s booth, spotted her hidden crosses woven into the artwork, and left encouraged and prayed for. These divine encounters remind Elizabeth of her role as a vessel of God’s presence.
Her journey hasn’t been without challenges—wildfire evacuations, unexpected expenses, and logistical hurdles. But even in these moments, she’s learning to walk in trust:
“God’s unexpected provision—the quest is to SHOW UP where He points us and the provision will be there, but it may be packaged unexpectedly.”
Through it all, Elizabeth holds fast to the dream God placed in her heart: building a creative business that doesn’t just sell art but creates a community of faith, beauty, and encouragement.

In our fast-paced, always-on world, stillness often feels like a luxury we can’t afford. Yet Psalm 46:10 gently reminds us, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Stillness isn’t just about stopping activity—it’s about making space to recognize God’s presence, hear His voice, and let His peace reshape the atmosphere of your creative life. In stillness, the noise fades, and we can hear the Spirit’s whispers more clearly.
As artists, stillness becomes both a spiritual practice and a creative catalyst. It’s in those unhurried moments that ideas take root, clarity comes, and anxiety loosens its grip. When we embrace stillness as a rhythm—not a rare escape—it transforms our art, our relationships, and even our business decisions. This week, let’s discover together how being still can actually accelerate your growth as an artist, spiritually and creatively.

Psalm 46:10 – “Be still, and know that I am God.”
Stillness is more than an absence of movement; it’s the intentional choice to fix our attention on God. In stillness, we remember that He is the source of our creativity, provision, and peace. It’s in this sacred pause that we receive fresh vision and clarity.
Prayer: Lord, teach me to rest in You. Quiet my heart so I can hear Your voice above all the noise. Fill me with Your peace and guide my hands in the work You’ve called me to. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
Spiritual Action Step: Set aside 15 minutes each day this week for uninterrupted stillness before God. No phone, no sketchbook—just you and Him.
CLARIFY
Stillness isn’t wasted time; it’s where strategy is born. When you pause to seek God’s direction, you’re better able to see which projects, opportunities, and relationships are truly in alignment with His plan for your creative journey. This week, before diving into your to-do list, take time to ask: What’s the most God-aligned thing I can do today?
Action Step: Schedule one uninterrupted 30-minute block this week for prayerful reflection on your goals. Write down three actions that align with your God-given vision—and commit to them.
CREATE
Artists often fear stillness because they equate it with stagnation. But in God’s Kingdom, stillness is fertile ground. Ideas mature, techniques evolve, and breakthroughs emerge when we give ourselves permission to rest, watch, and listen. Inspiration often comes like a whisper, not a shout.
Studio Action Step: Before you begin creating, spend five minutes quietly observing your materials, textures, and colors. Let your hands respond without pressure to produce—see what flows naturally from the calm.
CULTIVATE
In a noisy online world, the artists who truly connect are often those who bring a sense of peace and presence to their audience. Sharing your own stillness—whether through thoughtful posts, behind-the-scenes moments, or intentional conversations—can set you apart and draw people in.
Weekly Outreach Action Step: Record a short video or post this week about how stillness impacts your art. Invite your followers to share their own stillness practices. This vulnerability fosters trust and deepens community connection.

Episode: Discover How Stillness Can Change Your Art Forever
What if the creative breakthrough you’ve been searching for isn’t found in more techniques or strategies, but in learning to be still? In this soul-stirring episode, we explore how sacred stillness unlocks divine creativity in ways that constant striving never can.
The tension between worldly pressure and spiritual flow creates a fascinating paradox for Christian artists. While culture pushes us to create faster, stay visible, and constantly perform, God whispers an invitation into stillness. “Cease striving and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10) becomes our creative manifesto, challenging us to trust that God has already given us everything we need for inspired artistry.
Drawing from personal experiences and biblical wisdom, this episode offers practical guidance for transforming your creative process. Learn how beginning each studio session with intentional quiet time, eliminating digital distractions, and releasing the pressure to make everything “content” can dramatically shift your artistic flow. Discover when to push through creative blocks and when to trust that stepping away might actually be the most productive choice.
At its heart, this conversation reveals that the most profound art comes not from straining or performing, but from positioning our hearts to receive. When we approach creativity as co-creation with the divine—receiving gifts of inspiration rather than manufacturing them through willpower—we access a flow that’s both deeply fulfilling and spiritually transformative.

This song beautifully captures the essence of Psalm 46:10—inviting us to quiet our hearts and make room for God’s voice. Let it be your soundtrack as you practice stillness this week.
FEATURED ARTIST: Erica Beeler
Painting Places Where God and Creativity Meet 📍 Website | 📱 Instagram
For Erica Beeler, art is more than brushstrokes—it’s a God-given calling that has shaped her identity, fueled her purpose, and brought her into a community she once thought didn’t exist.
During the isolation of the COVID pandemic, Erica longed for connection with other Christian artists. She found it—unexpectedly—through Matt Tommey’s podcast, a masterclass, and ultimately, the Created to Thrive Artist Mentoring Program.
“I learned that it was no accident I had creative interests—it was part of God’s plan. The Enemy had tried for years to convince me my art was a frivolous hobby. But I realized I am divinely called to be an artist, and God can impact the world through art in profound ways.”
As a landscape and travel painter, Erica draws inspiration from the many places she’s visited, especially where nature and human craftsmanship blend—gardens, cottages, and carefully curated spaces that feel like divine collaborations. Beyond her paintings, she creates inspiring and educational art videos, using YouTube and social media to encourage others to overcome fear and embrace their creativity.
“Just like I found community and encouragement through the mentoring program, I want to offer that same encouragement to someone else who might need it.”
Her journey hasn’t been without challenges. There were seasons when the security of an office job seemed more practical, but unfulfilling.
“If I stopped painting, something inside me would die,” she admits. “It’s God’s reason, not mine, and knowing He made me this way is enough to keep going.”
One of her favorite moments came when an abstract painting caught the eye of a colorblind man at a local festival—both with and without his special glasses. The connection they shared reminded her that art has the power to speak in ways we can’t plan.
Erica’s creative rhythm includes dedicated studio space, prioritizing art during her daughter’s nap times, and daily prayer for the next step.
“God rarely shows the big picture—just the next piece of the puzzle. My job is to act in faith with the information I have.”
Her advice to fellow artists? Keep putting yourself out there—apply to shows, enter galleries, and build community.
“The art business isn’t just about sales. It’s truly a community, and every step you take opens new doors.”
Through her art and encouragement, Erica is faithfully painting the beauty of God’s creation while inspiring others to find their voice, their courage, and their place in His story.

We’ve all hit those creative ruts—the ones that make you doubt your instincts, question your talent, or feel like every brushstroke is a battle. But the truth is, those ruts don’t define you. They’re often just growing pains before a breakthrough.
This week, I want to encourage you to trust that small voice inside—the one that nudges you to try something new, to show up again, to keep going even when it feels uncertain. Because that voice? That’s the Holy Spirit reminding you who you are and who you belong to.
Proverbs 3:5–6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
When your creative instincts feel shaky, lean into the One who placed them there in the first place. Don’t be afraid to take bold steps—even messy ones. You’re not creating alone. The Creator is with you, guiding every line, every layer, every leap of faith.
May this week be filled with intentional reflection, creative breakthroughs, and meaningful connection with the Creator who put that beautiful imagination inside you.
I’m cheering you on always!

When Confidence Falters, God is Faithful
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.” – Proverbs 3:5 (NLT)
When fear creeps in, it’s easy to doubt your direction, your voice, or your creative choices. But Scripture reminds us that God’s guidance isn’t based on your confidence—it’s rooted in His faithfulness. When you feel stuck or unsure, ask: “Lord, what do You want to create with me today?” That simple surrender opens the door for peace and clarity.
Prayer Father, thank You for the gift of creativity. Help me trust You more than my fear, more than the outcome, and more than my own understanding. Remind me that I don’t have to figure it all out—I just have to follow You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
Spiritual Action Step: Start your next creative session with 2 minutes of quiet prayer. Lay your fear at Jesus’ feet, then ask Him to fill your imagination with His peace and ideas.
CLARIFY
Where is God Leading This Week?
When fear creeps in, it often scatters our focus. We start second-guessing what we already knew God was leading us toward. That’s why clarity is so essential—it anchors us back into intentionality. Proverbs 3:6 reminds us to “seek His will in all you do,” and that includes your creative focus for this week.
So instead of spinning your wheels or getting distracted by the next shiny idea, take time to recalibrate. What did God highlight for you at the start of this 90-day season? Where have you been seeing grace, movement, or confirmation? This is the week to align your schedule with your assignment—not just with what feels urgent.
Reflection Prompt: What is God already blessing in your creative life right now? What’s one goal from your current 90-day plan that He’s prompting you to prioritize?
Action Step: Review your current 90-day goals. Circle the one that feels most pressing in the Spirit, not just on paper. Block 3 focused time slots this week to take clear, measurable steps forward on it.

“God won’t bless confusion. But He will always meet you in clarity and faithful action.” – Matt Tommey
CREATE
Trust the Flow
Creative ruts usually aren’t about a lack of ideas—they’re about fear of what might happen if we follow them. Trusting your creative instincts means leaning into experimentation, flow, and even a little risk. That’s where breakthroughs happen.
This week, choose to override perfectionism and take messy action. Whether it’s a color you wouldn’t normally use, a tool you haven’t touched in years, or an unfinished piece calling you back—go for it. God doesn’t need it to be perfect. He just needs your willingness.
Studio Action Step: Choose one “half-finished” or “too weird” piece in your studio and work on it without judgment for 30 minutes. Let instinct—not insecurity—lead.
CULTIVATE
Share the Process, Not Just the Polish
People don’t just connect with your finished work—they connect with your process. When you share a behind-the-scenes moment, a creative struggle, or even a small breakthrough, you invite your audience into your journey. And that kind of authenticity builds real trust.
This week, take one step to show the real you—paint clothes, messy desk, unfinished sketch and all. You never know who’s waiting to be encouraged by your vulnerability.
Outreach Action Step: Post a progress photo or “studio moment” on social media. In the caption, share one thing you’ve learned this week about trusting your creative instincts.
TECH TIP FOR THRIVING
You don’t have to do everything yourself. Fiverr lets you hire affordable professionals for those lingering tech or business tasks—like logo design, website fixes, or even help with social media graphics.
Freeing up your time from what drains you means you can pour more into what energizes you—creating.
Action Step: Search “logo design” or “website audit” and hire a highly-rated freelancer to knock out a task you’ve been putting off.

Episode Title: Overcoming Fear to Trust Your Creative Instincts
What if the creative ruts you keep experiencing aren’t just “part of the process” but actually fear-based barriers preventing you from fulfilling your God-given purpose as an artist?
Fear whispers that you’re not talented enough, that it’s too late, that your work doesn’t matter—but these whispers aren’t coming from your Creator. God has empowered you with a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind, not a spirit of fear. When you understand this truth, everything about your creative process can transform.
Your brain naturally protects you from perceived danger, and unless you’ve intentionally trained it according to God’s Word, it will raise red flags when you try something new creatively. That’s why 95% of what we do daily is controlled by our subconscious mind—creating an internal framework that either empowers or limits your artistic expression.
The creative instincts inside you—your attraction to certain media, techniques, colors, or subjects—aren’t random. They’re divine clues about your unique creative voice and purpose. As a believer, you’re in union with Christ, not separated from His creative power. This means you can trust those instincts as the Holy Spirit’s guidance in your artistic journey.
Every brushstroke, poem, dance movement, or musical note you create is an act of faith that can become a catalyst for transformation in someone’s life. The difference between artists who thrive and those who remain stuck isn’t talent or training—it’s their willingness to show up consistently despite fear, trusting that “greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.”
The only qualification you need to step into your artistic calling is your “yes” to God. The only disqualification is giving in to fear. When you choose to create even when you feel inadequate or uninspired, you’re declaring victory over fear and opening the door to supernatural creativity that flows through your art in ways you never imagined possible.
FEATURED ARTIST: Ginny Worsley
Painting Everyday Beauty with Purpose and Joy 📍 Website | 📱 Instagram
For Ginny Worsley, painting isn’t just a practice—it’s a calling. Her winsome, illustrative style invites viewers into a world of quiet wonder, where everyday life, nostalgia, and fleeting moments take center stage. From heirloom objects and ordinary places to familiar corners of home, each piece carries a deeper story—sometimes hers, often yours.
“Every scene I paint has a story behind it,” Ginny shares. “But my hope is that others will find their own story within each painting.”
After years of setting painting aside, Ginny recently made the courageous decision to pursue it full-time.
“God gave me this desire to paint, and now I’m fully committed to the calling,” she says. “I’m seeking His guidance daily—growing not only as a painter, but as a business owner too.”
That surrender is already bearing fruit. This year alone, Ginny has been featured on her favorite podcast and accepted into a dream show at the top of her list. Doors are opening, and her obedience is creating new pathways for creativity, community, and connection.
Ginny is especially inspired by the beauty of the everyday—the things that most people might pass by, but that she sees with spiritual eyes.
“I’m drawn to simpler times and meaningful details. I love creating visual joy, and it means everything when someone sees a piece and is reminded of a cherished memory or meaningful moment from their own life.”
Her creative and spiritual rhythms are grounded in prayer, journaling, and sketching. She records ideas constantly, using words and quick drawings to process and discern what to pursue next.
“This is God’s business, too,” she says. “I work for Him. I want to please Him with everything I create and put into the world.”
Ginny’s encouragement for other artists? 🎨 “Keep showing up—for yourself and for God. Especially on the days when you don’t feel like it. Just keep creating.”
With consistency and courage, Ginny continues to step outside her comfort zone—applying for shows, galleries, and podcasts—while building a life and business that honors her gift and her God.
Through every brushstroke, Ginny Worsley is faithfully telling stories that reflect the quiet beauty of the everyday—and reminding us all that those small, sacred moments are often where God speaks the loudest.

Have you ever felt like your creativity was trapped behind an invisible wall? Like no matter how many tutorials you watch, books you read, or marketing tactics you try, you just can’t seem to find your rhythm again?
You’re not alone.
As Christian artists, we’re not just trying to master a technique or build a business—we’re trying to honor God with our creativity. And that means the roadblocks we face aren’t always technical… they’re spiritual, emotional, and deeply personal.
I created the Foundations Course™ because I’ve walked that road myself—and I’ve helped thousands of artists just like you find freedom, purpose, and joy on the other side of their struggle.
“This course didn’t just make me a better artist. It made me a whole person.” – Anita C.
What Artists Are Really Struggling With
Most artists don’t struggle with making art. They struggle with:
Fear of not being good enough
Comparison to other artists
Feeling overwhelmed or disorganized
A lack of confidence in their calling
Uncertainty about how God fits into their creative life
And that struggle? It doesn’t get better with more strategy. It only gets better when you deal with what’s going on in your heart.
“I’ve been a believer for decades… this course helped me finally understand my identity in Christ as an artist.” – Linda A.
Why Strategy Isn’t Enough
Let’s be honest—strategy can help. But without identity, alignment, and healing, you’ll stay stuck.
“I no longer feel pressure to strive for success. My job is simply to create and trust that God will take care of the rest.” – Shannon
What I’ve found is that when artists begin to see themselves the way God sees them, everything shifts. They stop creating out of fear and start creating from rest. They stop comparing and start connecting. They stop hiding and start shining.
“I feel free—free to create, free to dream again, and free to follow God’s plan without fear.” – Janice M.
What Makes the Foundations Course Different?
The Foundations Course isn’t just about art—it’s about you. It’s about your heart, your healing, and your walk with God as a creative.
Inside the course, you’ll discover:
How to renew your mind using biblical truth
How to overcome perfectionism, fear, and creative paralysis
How to create from a place of freedom, not striving
How to align your art with your Kingdom calling
How to cultivate confidence in your identity as God’s artist
“It’s like someone finally turned the lights on. I can see what God is doing in and through my creativity.” – Paul H.
This is discipleship for artists. It’s not fluff. It’s not hype. It’s the real, Spirit-led transformation your soul has been crying out for.
Real Stories of Real Transformation
“This course changed my life! It opened the door to hear God’s voice more clearly, and now I create with joy and confidence.” – Brenda W.

“I’m 74, and I thought I was too late to take my art seriously. This course gave me clarity, healing, and a renewed sense of purpose!” – Roxanne S.
Ready to Begin?
Maybe you’re reading this and thinking, “That’s me. I’m ready. I just need help getting started.”
There are two ways you can begin your Foundations journey right now:
📘 1. Grab the Foundations Book
Perfect for artists who want a physical, guided journey with Scripture, journaling prompts, and creative activations. It’s also a great tool for small groups and church art communities.
Overcoming the Price Objection: What’s Staying Stuck Costing You?
I get it—spending money on a course feels like a risk. But let me ask you: What is staying stuck costing you?
Your peace? Your purpose? Your ability to show up and create the way God designed you to?
This course is an investment in your healing, your clarity, and your future as a thriving Christian artist. And honestly? You’re worth it.
“Before this course was even over, God opened unexpected doors for me! I would have talked myself out of the opportunity before, but this time, I said ‘YES!’” – Wendy B.
You’re Not Too Late. You’re Right on Time.
There is no expiration date on your calling. Whether you’re 24 or 74, your creativity still matters. Your voice still matters. And God still wants to move in and through your art to reveal His glory.
“I encountered God in this course. He healed my heart, spoke life over my creativity, and gave me a vision for what’s next.” – Darlene K.
“This course revealed God’s vision for my creativity and healed wounds I didn’t know I had. I’ve gone from doubting my artistic calling to recognizing it as a divine assignment.” – Barbara D.

✅ Overcome fear, comparison, and creative blocks ✅ Align your heart with God’s design ✅ Experience lasting transformation in your art and faith…
You ever have one of those moments in the studio where something just clicks—where your hands are moving, the paint is flowing, and suddenly you realize you’re not just making art… you’re being led? That still small voice isn’t just for prayer closets or quiet time. It shows up right there in the swirl of color, the rhythm of your process, and the ideas that come out of nowhere yet land with eternal purpose. This week, we’re diving into what it means to recognize God’s voice in the midst of your creativity—and how to cultivate a life that’s tuned in and ready to respond.
Isaiah 30:21 reminds us, “Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, ‘This is the way you should go,’ whether to the right or to the left.” When you embrace that truth as an artist, everything changes. You stop striving, start listening, and find a flow that’s not just beautiful—it’s sacred. Whether you’re picking up the brush for the first time in a while or you’re in the thick of creating something new, I hope this issue encourages you to lean in and let God lead the way.
May this week be filled with intentional reflection, creative breakthroughs, and meaningful connection with the Creator who put that beautiful imagination inside you.
In His love and creativity, Matt Tommey

“Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, ‘This is the way you should go.’” – Isaiah 30:21 (NLT)
God doesn’t just speak to pastors and prophets—He speaks to artists, too. And more often than not, He speaks in the process. That moment when you’re deciding on a color palette or composition and a sudden clarity washes over you? That can be Him. Learning to recognize God’s voice in your creative flow starts by expecting that He wants to speak.
Prayer Lord, I want to hear Your voice clearly as I create. Quiet the noise, calm my fears, and tune my heart to Yours. Help me recognize Your guidance in every brushstroke, sketch line, and moment of inspiration. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
Spiritual Action Step: Before your next creative session, pause and ask the Holy Spirit, “What do You want to express through me today?” Write it down. Trust it. Create from it.
CLARIFY
If God really is speaking, the question becomes: are you making space to listen? The creative life is full of motion—ideas, deadlines, distractions—but clarity comes when we slow down enough to ask, “Lord, what are You saying to me this week about my art, my goals, and my calling?” The more you practice that alignment, the more confident you’ll become in your direction.
Whether you’re planning a new collection or wondering which opportunities to pursue, don’t just look at the numbers or what’s popular—ask God. He loves to partner with you.
Reflection Prompt: Where in your creative life do you need clearer direction this week?
Action Step: Write down 3 current goals. Next to each, ask: “Did God lead me here, or am I just filling space?” Then, revise your priorities to reflect what feels truly Spirit-led.
CREATE
You don’t need to wait for a booming voice from heaven to know that God’s in your studio. Often, His presence shows up in peace. In joy. In the little nudges that whisper, “Try this.” Maybe it’s layering in a new texture, experimenting with color, or revisiting an old sketch with new eyes. That’s where creativity becomes collaboration.
And here’s the thing—when you trust that flow, you don’t just make better art… you make art with a message. Whether it’s subtle or bold, your creative offering becomes a seed that the Holy Spirit can breathe on.
Studio Action Step: Choose one piece of art in progress. Ask God what message or emotion He wants to convey through it. Then finish it, not from pressure, but from presence.
CULTIVATE
Recognizing God’s voice doesn’t stop in the studio—it moves through your audience as well. When your art speaks to someone’s heart, you’re witnessing a divine echo. That’s why sharing your work matters. You never know who’s been waiting for what only your voice can release.
Ana Quintana’s journey is proof that showing up daily, building community, and staying aligned with God can open unexpected doors—like magazine features and gallery opportunities that started with a simple “yes.” Be bold in showing your work. Be faithful in connecting.
Outreach Action Step: Choose one recent piece that carries a story. Share that story in a social media post or email this week, highlighting how God led you in the process. Ask your audience how it speaks to them.

FEATURED ARTIST: Ana Quintana
Fluid Art, Divine Flow, and a Bold Leap into Calling 📍 Website | 📱 Instagram
For Ana Quintana, art is more than a creative pursuit—it’s a bold surrender to God’s timing, movement, and unexpected surprises. After a thriving career in the tech industry and a lifetime of appreciation for beauty, Ana followed a divine nudge to fully embrace her calling as an artist—and she hasn’t looked back.
Ana is a fluid acrylic artist who creates expressive works using her hands, intuition, and a willingness to let go of control.
“I don’t use brushes—just my hands and a desire to let the paint speak,” she says. “Each painting is a dance between intention and surrender, like life itself.”
She draws inspiration from the natural world, spiritual themes, and the vibrant landscapes of the American Southwest and Mountain West. Her pieces feature rich pigments, shimmering mica, and mesmerizing textures that pull the viewer into a visual and emotional journey.
“Color is my creative language,” Ana shares. “Each painting is a one-of-a-kind experience that blends chemistry, passion, and divine influence.”
Ana’s spiritual and artistic breakthrough came through the Foundations Course.
“Week 7 was a game-changer. I realized I had been defining success by sales, but God showed me that true success is obedience, joy, and purpose. That shift freed me.”
And God has been opening doors. One of Ana’s church elders introduced her to a local publisher, which led to a magazine cover feature and a commission from a new collector. “None of that would’ve happened without being planted in my church community,” she reflects. Another divine connection came through a friend’s request for a Northern Lights-inspired series—a project that challenged Ana’s approach but led to stunning results and a reconnection in faith and friendship.
Ana’s creative process is steeped in daily inspiration and spiritual sensitivity. She fills her studio with printed quotes, Scriptures, and podcast insights from The Thriving Christian Artist, and seeks the Holy Spirit’s guidance before beginning each series.
“I’m always wondering, ‘What will He inspire me to create next?’”
Her advice to fellow creatives is rooted in faith and diligence: 🎨 “Be patient and stay encouraged. Network, take opportunities seriously, and do something every day to move forward in your calling. God blesses what you put your hands to—so make space for Him to move.”
Today, Ana’s work is featured in galleries in Denver and Santa Fe, and she’s expanding her reach through juried exhibitions via platforms like CaFE.org. Her steady faith, vibrant voice, and daily obedience are turning her creative calling into a growing movement of color, energy, and worship.
Ana Quintana is living proof that when you embrace the process, trust the timing, and surrender the outcome, God will do more than you ever imagined—one fluid masterpiece at a time.

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” —John 10:27 (NKJV)
Jesus didn’t say some of His sheep hear His voice. He said His sheep do. That includes you, right now, in whatever season you’re in. But hearing isn’t just about our ears—it’s about posture. Are we slowing down? Are we turning down the volume of distraction long enough to recognize His whispers? His voice comes with peace, clarity, and always aligns with His Word. When you create space to listen, you’ll find He’s been speaking all along.
Prayer: Father, thank You that You are always speaking and that You’ve given me the ability to hear You. Help me quiet the noise, soften my heart, and tune into the voice of the Good Shepherd. I want to walk in step with You in every area of my life and creativity. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
Spiritual Action Step: Set aside 10–15 minutes each morning this week to sit quietly, journal, and ask God one question: “What do You want me to know today?” Then listen. Write what you sense.
CLARIFY
Hearing God’s voice starts with intention. That means making space in your schedule and your heart for clarity to flow. Instead of rushing into your day with a to-do list, try starting with a to-be list: “Today I will be available. I will be attentive. I will be open.” God doesn’t compete with chaos. He invites us into alignment so we can receive the guidance we need for the week ahead.
Take a moment to reflect: What’s one area of your life where you’ve been seeking God’s direction? What would it look like to pause, listen, and allow His voice to guide you there?
Practical Action Step: Write down your top 3 goals for this week. Then pray over them. Ask God to highlight which ones align with His heart—and which ones may need to wait or shift.
CREATE
You know those moments when you’re creating and time just slips away? That sense of flow and presence? That’s a prime place for God to speak. Creativity is a sacred portal for connection. As artists, our senses are already tuned to beauty, form, and movement—what if you leaned in a little more this week, not just to express yourself, but to listen?
Keep your journal nearby while you create. If a Scripture, phrase, or impression comes, pause and write it down. Your art can become a conversation—a visual echo of heaven’s whispers.
Studio Action Step: Next time you’re in the studio, begin your session with a short prayer: “Holy Spirit, speak through my hands today.” Then create with the expectation that He will meet you in the process.
CULTIVATE
Hearing God’s voice isn’t just about personal guidance—it’s about releasing life to others. Your art can become a vehicle of encouragement, healing, and clarity for those who encounter it. Whether you share a finished piece, a journal excerpt, or a short reflection, your obedience in listening and creating can spark something profound in someone else.
Remember, people aren’t just buying art—they’re connecting with the story, spirit, and presence it carries. When your art comes from a listening heart, it carries Kingdom weight.
Outreach Action Step: Choose one piece of art this week and share a short caption or story behind it on social media. End with a question like, “Has God ever spoken to you through creativity?”

Reimagining Barn Raising as Creative Community-Building
I came across a beautiful story about architect and artist Erin Besler, who’s revived the age-old American tradition of barn raising at Art Omi, a sculpture‑and‑architecture park in New York
Instead of a traditional barn, Besler designed a timber frame structure that deliberately never becomes a functional building. The goal? To invite people—professionals and newcomers alike—to build together, learn, and be part of the creative process. Over the next few weeks, the project features hands‑on workshops, evening talks, and community‑led construction events before the big barn‑raising day on July 26, 2025.
What really stood out to me is how art becomes instruction, inclusion, and relationship—all in one project. Besler’s approach shatters the idea that art is only for the elite—it’s an open invitation to join in, contribute, and be seen. Plus, using untreated local wood speaks to sustainability rooted in place. As Christian, Kingdom creatives, we get this: art isn’t just about our individual voice—it’s about building together, stewarding creation, and teaching others the joy of making with their own hands.

FEATURED ARTIST: Julia Kuklis
From Despair to Destiny: Painting with Purpose and Power Website | Instagram
For Julia Kuklis, painting is no longer just a creative outlet—it’s a sacred assignment, a lifeline, and a testimony of God’s redeeming power. Her journey into prophetic art began not in a studio, but in a moment of desperation.
“I cried out to God at 3am, telling Him that if He wanted me to paint, He would have to bring me a mentor—someone who was an artist and loved the Lord.”
“The mentorship broke decades of despair and lies off my life. I went from not knowing what prophetic art was to now serving as the Assistant Prophetic Art Director at my church. My entire life has changed.”
Julia creates non-representational abstracts using vibrant color, texture, and movement. Her “scratch-through” technique and layered approach give her work a sense of emotional depth and revelation. Whether she’s responding to Scripture, worship, or simply the beauty in nature, every piece is an act of co-creating with the Holy Spirit.
“Color excites me the most! But even more, I love that the Lord meets me in the process—reminding me of who He is and who I am.”
She recalls a powerful moment when a young man approached her after she painted during a church service. Her semi-abstract piece deeply resonated with him, and as they talked, he began to cry—feeling seen, uplifted, and ministered to.
“That’s the beauty of prophetic art,” she says. “Even abstract work can carry a word from God directly to someone’s heart.”
Julia balances her artistic calling with the demands of homeschooling, often painting in short, focused blocks of time. Whether she has 20 minutes or a couple of hours, she makes space to be present with God, letting the process flow. Some days are less productive, but she’s learned to give herself grace and stay connected by organizing her studio, listening to worship music, or simply observing the beauty around her.
Her encouragement to other artists? 🎨 “Don’t let the enemy rob you of your creative birthright. You’re creating for an audience of One—and He delights in you!”
From juried shows to commissions and church ministry, Julia is seeing God expand her influence, even in a season where she paints part-time. Her obedience, vulnerability, and trust have opened doors for healing, impact, and purpose in ways she never imagined.
Julia’s life and work are a living testimony: when you surrender your art to God, He doesn’t just restore what’s broken—He releases beauty that touches the world.

Resources for Christian Artists
If you’re ready to grow as an artist in your faith, art and even business, then check out these affordable resources for artists just like you.
One of the most incredible truths we can embrace as artists is that we were never designed to walk this journey alone. From the very beginning, God created us for connection—not just with Him, but with each other. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reminds us, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.” When we step into divine collaboration, we find strength, encouragement, and fresh vision we could never find in isolation.
This week, we’re diving deep into what it means to build meaningful connections and collaborations as artists. Whether it’s partnering on a project, joining a critique group, or simply sharing your heart with a fellow creative friend, these relationships are often the key to breakthrough. My prayer is that you’ll open your heart to the relationships God is bringing into your life—and that you’ll see how He wants to use them to multiply your impact and joy.
May this week be filled with intentional reflection, creative breakthroughs, and meaningful connection with the Creator who put that beautiful imagination inside you.

Scripture:“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.” — Ecclesiastes 4:9 (NIV)
Have you ever noticed how much easier it is to keep going when someone is walking beside you? The Kingdom of God is all about community, and our creative lives are no exception. We are called to build each other up, encourage one another, and celebrate each other’s wins. As artists, we need people who will remind us of our identity in Christ and our creative calling when we lose sight of it.
Prayer: Father, thank You for the gift of community. Help me to open my heart to the relationships You have prepared for me. Give me discernment to see the people You’ve placed in my life to help me grow creatively and spiritually. Teach me to encourage and lift others up as well. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
Spiritual Action Step: Take 10 minutes this week to pray specifically for the artists and creative friends in your life. Ask God to show you how you can encourage or support them in a tangible way.
CLARIFY
God’s plans for us often involve people—divine appointments that help clarify our vision and keep us moving forward. This week, consider how your relationships align with where God is leading you. Are there people you need to reach out to, collaborations you’ve been hesitant to start, or conversations you’ve been avoiding?
Reflect on how these partnerships could help you gain new perspective, push past creative roadblocks, and step into greater freedom. When we align our goals with God’s heart for connection, we move from striving alone to thriving together.
Reflection Prompt: Which relationships in your life feel life-giving and aligned with your creative vision? Which ones need prayer, boundaries, or a renewed approach?
Action Step: Make a list of 2–3 artists or creative friends you want to connect with this month. Reach out to set up a coffee, call, or creative hangout.
CREATE
Isolation can often make our art feel stagnant. Collaboration, however, can infuse new life into our creative practice. Whether it’s inviting another artist into your studio, sharing unfinished work for feedback, or even collaborating on a joint piece, these experiences stretch us and grow us in ways solo work never can.
Remember, God didn’t just call us to create; He called us to create in community. Just as iron sharpens iron, one artist can sharpen another. When you open yourself to this, you’ll find unexpected inspiration, encouragement, and practical insights that can propel your work forward.
Studio Action Step: Invite a trusted artist friend to visit your studio (or do a virtual studio tour) this month. Share a piece you’re working on and ask for honest, grace-filled feedback.
CULTIVATE
Building a thriving art business isn’t just about sales—it’s about relationships. Every collector, gallery owner, or fellow artist is a potential partner in the story God is telling through your work. When you invest in authentic connections, you build trust and open doors to opportunities you may have never imagined.
This week, think about how you can move beyond surface-level interactions to deeper connections. Share more of your story online, comment meaningfully on a fellow artist’s post, or reach out to a past collector to thank them. Every genuine interaction plants seeds for future growth and impact.
Outreach Action Step: Pick one person—an art collector, a gallery owner, or a supporter—and write them a heartfelt note or email expressing your gratitude and sharing an update on your creative journey.
TECH TIP FOR THRIVING
Platform:Canva Canva is a fantastic tool that empowers you to create professional, branded designs without needing a graphic designer. From social media posts to price lists, Canva helps you present your work beautifully and consistently.

INSPIRE
Over in Beaumont, Texas, The Art Studio, Inc. (TASI) just wrapped up its Fourth Annual Gumbo Clayfest, and it’s seriously the kind of heartwarming story that reminds us why art matters. Despite tighter budgets from some usual sponsors, TASI brought together local and returning ceramicists—think Tom Belden, Chris Leonard, and Gary “Greeny” Greenberg—to celebrate clay. Dozens of potters led free public workshops, demoed wheel-throwing, and shared techniques. Kids, retirees, and everyone in between shaped bowls and mugs, learning that a lump of clay can become a vessel of connection.
What stands out is how this festival isn’t just about selling work—it’s about nurturing new talent and reinforcing community bonds. TASI’s director, Greg Busceme, stressed that art in gatherings like this gives people a safe space to express, process emotions, and find belonging. For us as Kingdom creatives, it’s a blueprint: hosting a simple, low-cost event can spark relationships, break down barriers, and invite folks into the joy of making.
Takeaway: Could you host a mini studio open-house or clay-play date? Even something as casual as a “mud and mingle” afternoon can open doors for conversations about your art, your faith, and the stories we shape together.
WORSHIP
This powerful worship song invites us to surrender and say “yes” to Jesus in every area of our lives. As you listen, let it be a personal moment of consecration and a reminder that your creative journey begins and thrives in His presence.
Creative breakthrough isn’t just about what happens in your studio—it’s about the people who surround you on the journey. In this week’s episode, we explore the power of creative partnerships and why stepping out of isolation can be the key to unlocking your next level of growth.
You’ll hear practical strategies and personal stories of artists who have stepped into collaborations and seen their work—and their spiritual lives—transform. If you’ve been trying to do it all alone, this episode is your invitation to embrace the gift of community and discover what God can do when you join forces with others.
Key Takeaway: Breakthrough often comes not from grinding harder alone but from opening your life to the creative connections God has prepared for you.

Sometimes as artists, we overthink everything—analyzing, striving, and trying to control every detail. But what if the breakthrough you’ve been longing for is on the other side of a simple, wholehearted “yes” to God’s creative plan?

FEATURED ARTIST: Amber Ratliff
Whimsy, Color, and Co-Creating with the Holy Spirit 📍 Website | 📱 Instagram
For Amber Ratliff, painting is so much more than mixing colors—it’s a sacred partnership with the Holy Spirit. Her vibrant, whimsical acrylic works overflow with joyful color, layered patterns, and hidden words of Scripture woven throughout, both visible and unseen. Each piece is an atmosphere-shifting invitation to encounter God’s heart.
Amber’s artistic journey took a transformative turn after attending the Gathering of Artisans in 2022.
“I had no idea what to expect,” she recalls. “But I was blown away by the Holy Spirit’s presence, the excellence, and the depth of connection with other artists. My art has never been the same since I learned to invite the Holy Spirit into the process.”
Workshops with mentors like Aeron & Tracy Brown, Amy Smith, and Sandy Hall taught her to ask God what He wants to release in each piece, embrace mystery and imperfection, and create as an act of worship rather than striving.
“Before GOA, I didn’t really consult God unless it was to ask Him to bless the piece. Now, it feels like a true partnership—obedience, worship, and a joy-filled connection,” she shares.
A powerful testimony of this transformation came when Amber was working at a local gallery with her painting “Secret Place”. A guest came in, overwhelmed, and was drawn directly to her piece by the Holy Spirit. He shared how deeply it ministered to him, even falling to his knees in the gallery to weep and pray. In a moment that could only be orchestrated by God, he asked Amber to pray for him, affirming that her art was not just decoration—it was ministry.
“I felt God remind me loudly, ‘It’s not about you!’ That encounter changed everything,” Amber recalls. “Selling the piece wasn’t the point—God was using it to accomplish His purposes.”
As a full-time homeschool mom and co-op teacher, Amber’s creative time is precious and limited. She commits each window of time to God, asking Him to multiply it and to guide every detail.
“It’s all about inviting Him in and remembering: it’s not about me. The pressure is off.”
Her encouragement to other artists? 🎨 “Take time to invite the Holy Spirit into every session—it’s a game changer! And remember: it’s not about you. Just be obedient and trust Him.”
Amber’s art is now shown regularly in a local gallery, and she connects monthly with a group of local Christian artists for prayer, critique, and fellowship—a lifeline of community and growth.
Through every playful shape, vibrant layer, and hidden Scripture, Amber Ratliff’s work radiates the joy and freedom of co-creating with God—an open invitation to encounter His love and creativity in living color.

Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of how to step fully into your creative calling? Maybe you’ve been waiting for the “perfect moment” to start—but let me tell you, there’s no better time than right now to take that first step.
The Created to Thrive Foundations Course is your roadmap to transformation—spiritually, creatively, and professionally. Through powerful teachings, practical strategies, and faith-filled encouragement, you’ll learn how to overcome fear, break free from limiting mindsets, and align your creative life with God’s divine design for you.
I’ve seen hundreds of artists move from confusion and frustration to clarity and freedom by diving into these foundational truths—and I know you can too.
One of the most beautiful things about being an artist is that our work is never just about paint on canvas or clay in our hands—it’s about the connections we create. Art has an incredible way of opening doors, breaking down walls, and inviting people into spaces of honesty, healing, and hope. When we share our art, we’re really offering an invitation: “Come and see what God is doing in me—and maybe in you too.”
This week, we’re leaning into that power of invitation. Proverbs 11:25 reminds us, “The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” That’s the heartbeat of a thriving artist: generosity that ripples outward, creating moments of transformation for everyone who encounters our work.
May this week be filled with intentional reflection, creative breakthroughs, and meaningful connection with the Creator who put that beautiful imagination inside you.

Scripture: “The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” — Proverbs 11:25 (NLT)
Our calling as artists isn’t just to create—it’s to invite. Each piece you make holds the potential to refresh someone’s spirit, to draw them closer to beauty, and ultimately, to the heart of God. When we open ourselves up and share generously, we embody the very nature of Christ, who gave freely and abundantly.
Prayer: Father, thank You for the creative gifts You’ve entrusted to me. Help me to see my art as an invitation to Your love and goodness. Teach me to be generous with my gifts, knowing that as I refresh others, You will refresh me. May every piece I create carry Your presence and draw hearts closer to You. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
Spiritual Action Step: Choose one piece of your art this week and intentionally share the story behind it with someone. Let it be a doorway for deeper conversation and connection.
CLARIFY
When you think about your art practice this week, ask yourself: How am I inviting others into connection—both with me and with God? Sometimes we get so focused on finishing pieces or hitting deadlines that we forget the bigger purpose behind our work. It’s not just about completing the next painting or sculpture; it’s about creating spaces where people can feel seen, inspired, and loved.
Take time to clarify your “why” this week. Write it down somewhere you can see it daily—perhaps in your studio or journal. This focus will keep your heart aligned with God’s intentions for your art and your audience.
Practical Action Step: Draft a short “Artist’s Invitation” statement that captures your heart for connection through art. Use it on your website, social media, or even in-person when talking about your work.
CREATE
Artistic practice is at its best when it overflows from a place of authentic connection. Remember, your creative process itself can be an invitation—an open door for the Holy Spirit to move in and through you. As you create this week, consider how each stroke, stitch, or sculpted line is an offering, a gentle “come and see” to those who will encounter it.
Sometimes the most powerful art emerges when we’re not striving for perfection but simply making space for God to speak. Embrace the imperfections, the experiments, and the unexpected moments—they’re all part of the divine conversation unfolding in your hands.
Studio Action Step: Create one new piece this week purely as an act of invitation—no pressure to sell it or make it “perfect.” Focus on the joy of the process and what God might want to reveal through it.
CULTIVATE
Your relationships with collectors, followers, and fellow creatives are fertile ground for connection and growth. People don’t just buy your art; they invest in the story, the heart, and the journey behind it. When you invite others into that journey, you’re building a community around your creative calling.
This week, think about how you can be more intentional in cultivating these connections. Whether through sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses, sending a personal thank-you note, or engaging more deeply on social media, each interaction is an opportunity to sow seeds of trust and encouragement.
Outreach Action Step: Send a handwritten note or a heartfelt email to at least three collectors or followers this week. Thank them for their support and share a little of what’s inspiring you right now.

Wabi-Sabi Blooms: Reviving San Antonio’s Forgotten Corners
I recently came across a truly uplifting story about Albert Gonzales, a San Antonio artist transforming neglected spaces with his Wabi-Sabi Blooms project. He’s committed to painting large, vibrant flower murals in every zip code of San Antonio—27 neighborhoods so far!
Leaving his corporate job in 2014 to pursue art full-time, Albert started small and faithful. His mission isn’t just about beautifying walls but inviting people into a moment of wonder and connection with their community. He’s even covering all expenses himself because he believes everyone deserves a moment of beauty each day.
Albert’s story challenges us: How might you bring unexpected joy and connection into your community? Maybe through a free art giveaway, a shared mural, or mentoring another creative soul. Let’s keep spreading God’s love and beauty everywhere we go. Read more here.
What truly sets thriving artists apart? It’s not just talent or hustle—it’s their ability to create intentional connections through their art, process, and story.
When you generously share your journey, you’re living out Proverbs 11:25: “A generous person will prosper. Whoever refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” Your openness becomes a magnet for authentic relationships and growth—both spiritual and professional.
Remember: holding back often says, “I don’t trust God in me.” Freedom comes when you offer your best and trust Him to multiply it.
Ready to start inviting others into your creative world?
WORSHIP
This powerful song is a beautiful reminder of what it means to be fully available to God and others. As you listen, let the lyrics become a prayer of surrender and invitation. Allow it to refocus your heart on being open, generous, and ready to share your gifts with the world.
FEATURED ARTIST: Cheryl Wilson
Layers of Emotion, Depth, and Divine Connection 📍 Website | 📱 Instagram
For Cheryl Wilson, painting isn’t just an act of creativity—it’s an act of deep spiritual surrender and transformation. Through her abstract paintings, Cheryl channels emotion, movement, and texture in ways that words can’t capture, creating pieces that speak to the soul.
“Even in a short time, this program has been transformative,” she shares. “It awakened a deeper knowledge of my worth as a Christian woman, deepened my faith, and gave me confidence to embrace my artistic voice. Only an awesome God can do this in me!”
Cheryl works primarily in abstract painting, exploring layers of transparency, chaotic lines that resolve, and thick textures that express her curiosity and search for meaning. Her TORN Series, originally inspired by aging in her 60s, has evolved into a lifelong narrative of growth and healing.
“When I let go of trying to direct the process and allowed the paintings to happen, it felt like God was speaking to me through each brushstroke,” she explains. “It was sometimes painful and uncertain, but the growth has been incredible—and still continues.”
Two standout pieces from this journey include “Broken Wings” and “Emotional Layering,” each capturing the raw process of breaking and mending that mirrors her spiritual walk.
An introvert and empath, Cheryl often processes her emotions through her art rather than words. “Painting is where I find peace, healing, and a deeper connection with God,” she says. “It allows me to connect with others in ways I never could otherwise, and it opens the door to conversations I used to fear.”
A pivotal breakthrough came when she committed to painting 100 small works in one week—a bold act of surrender and trust. By allowing God to guide each brushstroke, Cheryl discovered her unique artistic voice and found freedom beyond expectations and trends. “Through that practice of releasing control, my true artistic path emerged—one rooted in faith and authenticity.”
Cheryl’s journey has also included opening up to her husband about the profound meaning art holds in her life, which has deepened their bond and encouraged her to step fully into her purpose. God continues to surprise her with blessings—honorable mentions in shows, new gallery opportunities, and growing confidence in her calling.
Her creative habits are anchored in prayer and quiet reflection before every studio session, inviting God into each moment. She documents her journey on her blog, Ruby Prose, and shares her process openly on social media and YouTube, creating a beautiful community of faith-filled creatives.
Her encouragement to fellow artists? 🎨 “Trust the process—both creatively and spiritually. Keep showing up, even when it feels hard. God will guide your journey and reveal your voice in His perfect timing. You can’t outgive God!”
Today, Cheryl is seeing incredible growth in her willingness to share her story and art boldly. Through authentic connection and community, she’s experiencing more sales, collectors, and unexpected doors opening. And through it all, she’s learning to trust more deeply, create more freely, and celebrate each step as a divine gift.

I’ve seen hundreds of artists move from confusion and frustration to clarity and freedom by diving into these foundational truths—and I know you can too.
Affordability is almost never the real reason people don’t buy artwork. Yet, it’s the thing artists love to obsess over — as if there’s some magical price point that will suddenly make people whip out their wallets. Not true.
In fact, lowering your prices to entice sales usually has the opposite effect, especially when it comes to your ideal high-end collectors. Lower prices often scream lower value, lower reputation, and lower perceived quality.
Serious art buyers find a place for work they absolutely love. If they fall in love, they’ll move mountains (or at least furniture) to make it fit.
The real reason most qualified buyers don’t make a purchase? The aesthetic.
They might appreciate your skill, admire your story, and even respect the hours you poured into creating — but if the colors, style, and subject matter don’t resonate or fit into their space, they’ll walk away every time.
Here’s the bottom line: buyers don’t care how long you’ve been creating, how many tears you cried over that piece, or how many cups of coffee fueled your late-night studio sessions. They care about one thing first: Will this look amazing in my space?
Once they’ve answered yes to that question, then — and only then — do they start to care about the story behind it, their connection with you as the artist, and any other sweet extras you might offer. But without that initial aesthetic spark, none of it matters.
Without a beautiful, unique, and commanding aesthetic, it’s highly unlikely you’ll sell consistently, no matter how much heart, passion, or time you pour in.
This is exactly why discovering and cultivating your unique artistic voice is so crucial.
Key Takeaways for Artists:
🎨 Stop obsessing over price — focus on creating art that commands attention and connection.
🏡 Buyers want pieces that make their spaces come alive. That’s the first (and biggest) hurdle.
💎 Your unique voice is your superpower. Refine it, celebrate it, and let it set you apart.
🚀 When your art resonates aesthetically, everything else — your story, connection, value — becomes the icing on the cake.
The world doesn’t need more cheap art — it needs more authentic, beautiful, heaven-breathed work that can’t help but turn heads.
Have you ever really stopped to think about what a miracle it is that God invites us — yes, you and me — to create with Him? Not just to make pretty things, not just to keep ourselves busy, but to co-create with the Creator of the universe.
This morning on my walk (where God seems to love talking to me!), I felt Him pouring out this powerful download that I knew I had to share with you right away. Because here’s the thing: as Christian artists, we’re not here to just decorate the world. We’re here to transform it.
Our creativity isn’t just a talent or a hobby — it’s a Kingdom assignment. It’s a sacred invitation to partner with God and become living intersection points where heaven meets earth through our art.
The Divine Blueprint: God’s Original Creative Process
When we look back to Genesis, we see something incredible. God spoke the world into being — light, sky, land, plants, animals — all with His words. But when it came to creating humanity, He did something different. He stooped down, took dirt from the earth, and formed Adam with His own hands. Then He breathed His very life into him (Genesis 2:7).
Why did God get His hands dirty when He made us? Because He wanted to model what it looks like to create from a place of intimacy and partnership. He wanted to show us that transformation doesn’t happen from a distance — it happens when heaven touches earth through willing, surrendered hands.
Dirt became destiny.
Art as an Intersection of Heaven and Earth
As Christian artists, we take raw materials — clay, paint, fabric, wood, metal, words — and we offer them up to God. We invite the Holy Spirit into our creative process. And just like that dirt in the garden, when the breath of God meets our work, transformation happens.
Your studio is not just a workspace. It’s a sanctuary. Every brushstroke, every woven fiber, every piece of clay molded in your hands becomes an altar where God’s presence dwells. When people interact with your art, they’re not just seeing your technique — they’re encountering something deeper, something eternal, something from the heart of God.
Ordinary Materials, Extraordinary Purpose
Think about the first miracle Jesus performed at the wedding in Cana (John 2). He didn’t start His ministry with some flashy, showy act. Instead, He took ordinary water — the simplest, most common substance — and turned it into the finest wine. Why? Because He was moved by compassion, connected to the Father’s heart, and fully surrendered to the Spirit’s leading.
Or consider the blind man in John 9. Jesus didn’t just speak healing from afar. He bent down, made mud with His own spit and the earth, and applied it to the man’s eyes. Again, God took something natural and infused it with divine power, bringing transformation and new life.
Friend, do you see the pattern? Over and over, Jesus modeled how heaven and earth collide through simple, surrendered acts. And as artists, we’re invited to do the same.
Your Art Is a Prophetic Act
When you create with God, your art becomes more than decoration — it becomes a prophetic act. Your paintings, sculptures, writings, music, and designs become invitations for people to encounter God’s love and presence in a tangible way.
Your art carries His heartbeat. It carries His compassion. It carries His transformative power. When someone stands before your work and feels deeply moved, when they say, “I don’t know why, but this piece speaks to me,” that’s not just about your skill. That’s the Holy Spirit working through you.
This is why your art matters so deeply. It’s why the world needs what you carry. It’s why the enemy fights so hard to keep you small, stuck in striving and comparison, and disconnected from your true calling.
The Power of Participation
Romans 12:2 urges us: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Transformation requires your participation.
God isn’t looking for passive spectators. He’s looking for sons and daughters willing to get their hands dirty — willing to co-labor with Him. When you yield your hands, your imagination, your materials, and your process to Him, something supernatural happens.
The kingdom isn’t about performance, hustle, or proving yourself. It’s about intimacy and obedience. It’s about saying, “Lord, I don’t just want to make art; I want to make art with You. I want my life and my creativity to be an ongoing encounter with heaven.”
Heaven’s Invitation to You
Your “dirt” — your raw materials, your ideas, your stories, even your weaknesses — can become your destiny when surrendered to God.
God wants to take the mundane and make it miraculous. He wants to take the ordinary and make it extraordinary. He wants to take your art and make it an instrument of healing, hope, and transformation for the world.
He’s not waiting for you to be perfect. He’s not waiting for you to have it all figured out. He’s simply waiting for your yes.
When you step into your creative process with Him, you begin to experience what it means to truly thrive — not just survive or get by, but to flourish in the fullness of who He’s created you to be.
P.S. If you’re ready to go deeper, to break free from striving and step fully into creating with God, I invite you to check out my Foundations Course for artists. It’s designed to help you renew your mind, align your heart with His, and confidently walk out your Kingdom calling as an artist.
Remember — in His hands, your dirt becomes destiny. And you, my friend, were created to thrive.
What if I told you the biggest thing holding you back as an artist isn’t your painting skill, your marketing strategy, or even the audience you have access to? What if the real barrier is actually how you define success?
After mentoring thousands of Christian artists over the years, I’ve realized that so many well-meaning creatives spend their lives chasing a version of success that God never intended for them. And it’s no wonder they end up burned out, frustrated, and sometimes even wanting to give up on their art completely.
But friend, let me encourage you — God has a much better plan. A plan that brings real abundance, deep joy, and lasting impact. One that not only fulfills you but also blesses countless others along the way.
From Hobbyist to Kingdom Artist
For years, I was what I like to call an “ENT” artist — an “every now and then” artist. I’d make baskets in the fall and winter when the weather was nice, maybe do a few art shows to make some Christmas money. I loved it, but I never once thought that God had a plan for my art. In my mind, my spiritual life was in one box, my art life was in another, and my business life somewhere else altogether.
But as I started going through my own healing journey, God began to show me something that rocked my world. He revealed that my art wasn’t just some fun, extra hobby — it was at the very center of my calling. He wanted to use my art not just to bring me life and freedom, but to bring healing, influence, impact, and yes, even income.
When I began to embrace that, everything started to shift. God brought my identity, my purpose, and my healing together into one beautiful package. It wasn’t an overnight transformation — there were plenty of bumps and potholes along the way — but each step drew me closer to Him and deeper into who He had created me to be.
The Baltimore Wake-Up Call
Early on, like so many artists, I thought success meant following all the latest strategies and hustling as hard as I could. I figured if I worked harder, did more shows, got into the best galleries, and won all the accolades, that would mean I had “made it.”
I’ll never forget the time I went to the prestigious American Craft Council show in Baltimore. I had invested big — thousands of dollars in booth fees, hotels, travel, not to mention the countless hours of preparation. I went in thinking, “This is it! This is going to be my breakthrough show. I’ll make $15,000–$20,000 easy!”
But instead of success, I hit a brick wall. I barely made enough to cover expenses. As I packed up and drove eight hours back to Asheville, I was furious, discouraged, and confused. I had a long, raw conversation with God on that drive home — what I like to call a “come to Jesus meeting.”
Somewhere in the middle of my ranting and complaining, the Lord interrupted me. He asked me a question that would change everything: “Do you really want to know why this didn’t work?”
When I finally said yes, He spoke so clearly: “Because you’re trying to build your art business in a way that I never designed for you.”
Ouch. But oh, what a freeing revelation that was.
The Power of His Plan
God reminded me of what He had already spoken to my heart before I even launched out — that He wanted my studio to be a place of connection and encounter, and that He would bring clients to me if I stayed faithful in the studio.
So, I went home and completely reworked my studio, turning it from a casual bohemian workspace into a professional fine art gallery. I invested money I didn’t have, trusted God every step, and prepared my space as an act of obedience.
Just a few weeks later, a couple from Atlanta — who had originally planned to see me at that Baltimore show — drove all the way to my studio unannounced. They commissioned a piece on the spot, paid a $1,000 deposit, and left me speechless.
In that moment, God made it crystal clear: His ways are higher than ours. When we walk in obedience, even when it doesn’t make sense, He opens doors we could never force open ourselves.
Redefining Success God’s Way
The world tells us success is all about numbers — sales, followers, fame, and fortune. But God? He measures success by faithfulness.
1 Samuel 16:7 reminds us, “For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
God isn’t looking at your Instagram stats or your bank account to measure your worth. He’s looking at your heart — at your willingness to say yes, to obey, to trust Him even when it doesn’t make sense.
When you shift your mindset from striving to abiding, everything changes. John 15 paints the picture perfectly: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit.” Our job isn’t to force the fruit. Our job is to stay connected to Him, and fruit will naturally flow.
Embrace the Unforced Rhythms of Grace
The Message Bible beautifully calls it “the unforced rhythms of grace.” As artists, it’s so easy to get caught in the comparison trap. We see others selling out shows, getting huge commissions, landing big exhibitions — and we start to question, “Am I enough? Am I doing enough? Am I successful?”
But comparison is the thief of joy. When you stop measuring your life by someone else’s highlight reel and start measuring by faithfulness to God’s voice, freedom comes. Peace comes. True joy comes.
Be Faithful in the Pasture
I love the story of David. Before he was king, before the victories and the songs, he was just a shepherd boy playing his harp in the fields. That secret place, the pasture, was where God shaped his heart. He learned intimacy before he ever stepped onto a public stage.
Likewise, Bezalel in Exodus 31 was filled with the Spirit of God and skilled in all kinds of craftsmanship. God doesn’t just want your talent; He wants your heart. He anoints both — your hands and your heart — to carry out His purposes.
Faithfulness Over Fame
In the Kingdom, faithfulness always precedes fruitfulness. God isn’t calling you to be famous; He’s calling you to be faithful. Fame might come, but it’s never the goal — it’s simply a possible byproduct of a life rooted in Him.
Matthew 6:33 reminds us, “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” The world’s system says, “Get all the things, then you’ll have peace.” But God says, “Seek Me first, and I’ll add everything you need.”
Your Invitation to Yield
Maybe today is your moment to pause and ask, “Lord, have I been building my art life on my own terms? Have I been chasing numbers instead of Your presence?”
Friend, He’s inviting you into the deeper place — to lay down striving and pick up abiding, to yield your plans and receive His. And when you do, I promise, you’ll discover a life and art practice beyond what you could ever imagine.
P.S. If you’re ready to step into this journey for real — to move from striving to thriving, from burnout to breakthrough — I’d love to invite you to check out my Foundations Course for artists. It’s a powerful, transformative discipleship journey designed to help you align your heart, renew your mind, and confidently walk out your unique calling as an artist in God’s Kingdom.
Have you ever found yourself wondering if your love for art — that creative spark that just won’t leave you alone — is really from God? Or is it just some side hobby that doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things?
Friend, I know that struggle well. For years, I wrestled with the same questions. I thought my creativity was just a fun side note to my “real” spiritual life. I kept my art over here, my business over there, and my spiritual life tucked safely in another box. But everything changed when I realized this powerful truth: our creativity is not just a luxury or a distraction. It’s a divine gift, woven into the very design of who we are, intended to release God’s glory into the earth.
If you’ve ever felt that tension, I want you to lean in. Because what I’ve discovered — and what I now spend my life helping other artists discover — is that your creativity isn’t just nice. It’s necessary. It’s not optional. It’s not “extra.” It’s an assignment straight from the heart of God.
Created in His Image to Create
Genesis 1:27 says we are created in God’s image. Think about that! The first thing God revealed about Himself in Scripture is that He is a Creator. And because we bear His image, we carry that same creative nature. Your desire to make art isn’t something you came up with to escape life — it’s a divine deposit, an invitation to partner with Him.
Some might say, “Oh, isn’t art selfish? Shouldn’t I be spending more time volunteering or doing ‘spiritual’ things?” But friend, your art is spiritual. It’s not a distraction; it’s a powerful act of agreement with God’s design for your life.
When you start seeing your creativity as a divine assignment, everything shifts. You begin to experience the abundant life Jesus promised — not just for yourself but as a conduit for others to encounter Him.
Your Art: A Vessel of Encounter
Whether you’re painting, weaving, writing, dancing, or composing, your creative expression becomes a vessel. Just like a song can bring tears streaming down your face in the car, your artwork can become a table where the Holy Spirit meets people right where they are.
I love to say: your art is an invitation for heaven to meet earth. Romans 8:19 reminds us that all creation is eagerly waiting for the sons and daughters of God to be revealed. People are hungry for truth, beauty, and authentic connection. When you create, you’re not just making pretty things — you’re opening divine intersections where God can move powerfully.
You’re an Ambassador
2 Corinthians 5:20 calls us ambassadors of Christ. Think about an ambassador — they don’t act on their own authority. They carry the authority of the one who sent them. When you create as an artist in God’s Kingdom, you’re not just expressing your own ideas; you’re carrying His heart into the world. That’s not just a hobby — that’s a mission.
It doesn’t matter if your art “looks” overtly Christian or not. It matters that you are a son or daughter of the King. When you create, His presence flows through you, transforming lives in ways you may never even see this side of heaven.
Faithfulness Over Fame
God isn’t looking for you to be the most successful, the most polished, or the most popular. He’s looking for your yes. Colossians 3:23 reminds us, “Whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord.” Whether you’re making art part-time, as a side gig, or full-time — do it faithfully. Because in the Kingdom, growth and multiplication come from faithfulness, not hustle.
When you bring your small loaves and fishes — your little bit of art, your hesitant steps of faith — God multiplies it beyond anything you could imagine. You might feel like you’ve only got a little to give, but He turns it into an overflow that feeds multitudes.
Say Yes to the Calling
What if today was the day you stopped treating your art like “just a hobby” and started embracing it as a holy calling? What if today you gave God your yes and agreed with His design for your life?
I want to encourage you to pause right now and pray:
Jesus, thank You for creating me in Your image and for giving me the gift of creativity. Today, I say yes to Your design and calling on my life as an artist. I choose to step into this divine assignment, to create in partnership with You, and to release Your glory into the world through my art. Thank You for the freedom, favor, and opportunities that come when I say yes to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Friend, if you just prayed that prayer, let me know — just say “YES” in the comments. Share your story. I want to celebrate with you and cheer you on.
Remember, you were created to thrive — not just survive. You carry the Kingdom. You are an artist on divine assignment. And the world is waiting for what you carry.
P.S. If this resonates with you and you want to go deeper, I’d love for you to check out my Foundations Course for artists. It’s a powerful discipleship journey designed to help you heal, grow, and step confidently into your God-given calling.
Stay connected, keep creating, and remember — you were created to thrive.
Have you ever wondered if your art really matters? If it’s just a hobby, something fun to do on the side—or if it actually has eternal significance?
This week, I want to remind you that your art isn’t just a personal pastime; it’s a divine invitation. God planted creativity deep inside you as a reflection of His own heart, and when you create, you’re partnering with Him to release beauty, hope, and transformation into the world.
In my new YouTube video, “Why Your Art Matters More Than You Think,” I explore this truth in depth. I believe it’s going to awaken something inside you and help you see your art through God’s eyes—full of purpose, power, and potential. May this week be filled with intentional reflection, creative breakthroughs, and meaningful connection with the Creator who put that beautiful imagination inside you.

Scripture: Genesis 1:27 (NLT) — “So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
Devotional Thought: You were created in the image of a Creator. That’s not a coincidence; it’s a calling. Your creativity is a mirror reflecting His beauty and goodness to a world desperate for authentic hope. Whether you paint, sculpt, weave, or write—each brushstroke or word is an invitation for someone to encounter the heart of God.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for making me in Your image and entrusting me with creative gifts. Help me to see my art as a holy calling and to use it to bring Your love and light into the world. Give me courage to share it boldly and faithfully. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
Action Step: Take 10 minutes today to journal about how your art reflects God’s image and ask Him to reveal fresh ways to use it to bless others.
CLARIFY
This week, let’s get super clear: Your art is not an afterthought—it’s an assignment. If God has given you this gift, it deserves your time, focus, and energy. Think of your creative practice as a ministry to both your own soul and to others who will experience it.
Reflect on what it would look like to honor your art as a divine calling. What small changes could you make this week to treat it with the importance it deserves? Maybe it’s scheduling studio time, investing in new materials, or simply sharing a piece online.
Action Step: Write down one concrete way you’ll prioritize your art this week—and put it on your calendar today.
CREATE
When we step into the studio, we’re not just making “things.” We’re participating in God’s ongoing act of creation. Every moment you spend creating is an opportunity to cultivate intimacy with Him and let His Spirit flow through you.
Colossians 3:23 reminds us, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” When you create, do it wholeheartedly, knowing you’re offering it as worship.
Action Step: Set aside a focused block of time this week (even just an hour!) to create purely for the joy of it, inviting God into every brushstroke, stitch, or note.
CULTIVATE
Your audience isn’t just potential customers—they’re people who long to encounter hope and beauty. When you share your art, you’re opening a door for God to move in unexpected ways.
Think about how you can invite people into your creative story this week. Maybe it’s a behind-the-scenes video, a personal post about what inspired your latest piece, or an in-person conversation at your church or local art fair.
Action Step: Choose one piece of art and write a short story about its meaning or process. Share it on social media and invite your audience to respond.

At Waunakee High School in Wisconsin, many students thought 18-year-old Molly Schafer was a loner. But instead of withdrawing completely, Molly chose a surprising way to reconnect: she painted 44 stunning portraits of her classmates — spending over 600 hours in her garage loft to bring them to life.
Her courageous gesture left her peers deeply moved and reflecting on the power of connection. Molly’s story reminds us that art can be a bridge to healing and unexpected friendship — if we’re willing to take the first step.
Podcast Episode:Authentically Connecting on Social Media
Gone are the days of just posting pretty pictures and waiting for sales. In 2025, it’s all about building authentic, heart-level connection. This week on the podcast, I’m sharing exactly what turns casual followers into passionate collectors — and spoiler alert: it’s not about algorithm hacks or perfect photos.
We’ll unpack how to tell your story in a way that invites people into your world, use each social platform strategically (yes, even TikTok!), and make real invitations instead of surface-level announcements. Whether you’re on Facebook, Instagram, or anywhere else, this episode gives you practical steps to build a true community that loves your art and wants to support your journey.
Key takeaway: When you lead with authenticity and connection, you don’t just gain followers — you build a family of collectors who believe in you.
“Canvas and Clay” by Pat Barrett This beautiful worship song captures the heart of being God’s artwork—shaped, molded, and refined by the Master Artist. Let it remind you that you are a masterpiece in progress and that your art can reflect His goodness no matter where you are on the journey.
For Shana Grugan, art isn’t just about what we see on the surface—it’s about uncovering the deep, unseen processes that reflect God’s presence and promises.
Shana is an acrylic painter working on canvas, panel, and paper, inspired by the natural world, especially botanicals. But it’s not just the flowers and plants themselves that capture her imagination—it’s the story behind them. The seed buried underground, the rooting before sprouting, the play of light and shadows—all of it mirrors God’s ways in our lives.
“My hope is that the final image of beauty beckons the viewer to lean closer to ponder the process beneath it,” she says.
Her current body of work focuses on shadow shapes, each unique and fleeting—like a whispered promise from God that is here today and never the same again. This revelation began during a season of exhaustion when she noticed the dancing tree shadows on the pavement while taking her new puppy outside. Psalm 91:1 came alive: “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” It was a moment of profound rest and covering that forever marked her creative path.
Through the Created to Thrive Artist Mentoring Program, Shana went from wrestling with doubt and the question, “Am I good enough?” to becoming fully persuaded by God’s promises over her life.
“I now have a God-given vision as my roadmap for my life, creative work, and business,” she shares. “I’ve learned to apply ‘faithful with little, ruler of much,’ and as I take steps of faith, God shows up!”
One beautiful example of this was a recent divine connection with an author of a Christian mini-book series. Years after praying with her at church, Shana was invited to create art for the book’s cover—a commission she would have previously shied away from. She stepped out in faith and was blessed to see God use her art to encourage and inspire others through the book’s message.
At the heart of Shana’s life and practice is journaling the voice of God. This is not compartmentalized—it’s foundational to every part of her creative and spiritual life. She writes, listens, and co-creates with the Lord, uncovering layers of His goodness along the way.
Her encouragement to fellow artists? “Remember God’s vision for your life. Make it real by imagining it, regularly. Then take the one step He shows you and say yes to the invitation. Be faithful and joyful in the journey.”
Currently in a season of “simplifying” and “fertilizing,” Shana is focusing deeply on her most fruitful gallery relationships, intentional learning, and meeting consistently with an artist friend for encouragement and accountability.
Through every layer, texture, and shadow, Shana Grugan invites us to look deeper—beyond the surface—to see the hidden beauty of God at work in every season.

What if I told you that your art—yes, the piece sitting half-finished on your studio table—was never meant to stay confined to your space?
What if, when it leaves your hands, something eternal begins to unfold? That’s the kind of power we’re talking about this week. In Matthew 5:14–16, Jesus reminds us that we’re not just artists—we’re light-bearers. And when our creativity is rooted in connection with Him, it becomes a spiritual force that shifts atmospheres and opens hearts.
You see, when heaven meets earth through your art, it’s not just about sales or social likes. It’s about obedience, presence, and impact. Your artwork, created in intimacy with the Holy Spirit, carries something eternal. You may never see all the lives your brushstrokes touch, but God does—and He uses every act of faith-filled creativity to plant seeds of truth, beauty, and restoration in the hearts of those who need it most.
May this week be filled with intentional reflection, creative breakthroughs, and meaningful connection with the Creator who put that beautiful imagination inside you.

You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. Let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. — Matthew 5:14,16 (NLT)
As artists, our instinct can sometimes be to retreat, to keep our creative expressions private or hidden. But Jesus calls us to something greater—to shine for His glory. Your art is not only a gift to you but a vessel through you for others to experience beauty, truth, and hope. When you share authentically from your heart, you’re revealing His nature.
Prayer: Father, thank You for the creativity You’ve placed inside me. Help me not to hide my light but to share what You’ve given with boldness and joy. Let my art reflect Your love and goodness to the world around me. Teach me to trust You with every stroke and step. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
Spiritual Step: Ask the Holy Spirit to highlight one person this week who needs to see your art. Then share it with them as an intentional act of encouragement.
CLARIFY
This week, let’s get really clear: your art isn’t just for you—it’s a message, a ministry, and a mirror of God’s glory in your life. But if you’re not sharing it, it can’t do the work it was meant to do. Sometimes we get stuck thinking it has to be perfect or profound, but what really moves people is honesty and heart. Are you sharing from that space?
Reflection Prompt: What’s one story behind your art that someone else needs to hear this week?
Action Step: Choose one piece of your art and write a short description about its meaning. Post it online, email it to a friend, or print it out with a note. Let your work speak from your heart.
CREATE
Great art flows from deep connection. When your heart is full and your focus is clear, the creative process becomes not just productive—but prophetic. Sharing from the heart requires that we stay present in the studio, not distracted by trends or chasing perfection, but tuned in to what God is doing in and through us.
Studio Action Step: Set aside one studio session this week to create without any agenda—no sales, no shows, no pressure. Just you, God, and the canvas. Let your spirit lead and see what pours out.
CULTIVATE
Marketing can feel impersonal when we forget the “why” behind it. But sharing your art from the heart is the most authentic marketing you can do. People connect with your story far more than just a product. When you let them in on the meaning behind the work, you invite them into a relationship—not just a transaction.
Outreach Idea: Write a short behind-the-scenes story about one piece of your art and post it on your social media with a clear invitation: “If this speaks to you, I’d love to hear your story too.”
Pinterest is a powerful tool for visually-inclined buyers and collectors—and it’s not just for recipes and mood boards! As a visual artist, you can use Pinterest as a living portfolio that attracts people who are searching for exactly what you create.
Try This: Create a board titled “My Art” and begin pinning images of your work. Include your process, finished pieces, and even inspiration boards. Use keywords in your pin titles and descriptions to help collectors find you more easily.
INSPIRE
Colors of Community: Silver City’s 62-Foot Mural Unveiling A heartwarming mural in Silver City, Nevada, reminds us that art has the power to connect across generations and backgrounds. Led by Tridentata Arts, this 62-foot collaborative piece brought together over 35 community members to paint their town’s story—from historic landmarks to family picnics and riverside memories. Local churches donated supplies, students mixed paint, and elders shared tales that shaped the design.
As Christian artists, let’s remember that our work doesn’t just live in frames—it lives in hearts. Maybe this week is the perfect time to co-create something in your studio with a friend, neighbor, or even a stranger who could use a little hope.
Podcast Title:When Heaven Meets Earth: The Hidden Power of Your Art
The moment your art leaves your studio, something more than marketing happens—it becomes a vessel of light in a world that desperately needs it. In this week’s episode, we explore Matthew 5:14–16 and the powerful truth that Jesus wasn’t speaking metaphorically when He called us “the light of the world.” Your creativity, when offered in obedience and connection with the Holy Spirit, becomes a supernatural force for transformation.
This isn’t about algorithms or aesthetics—it’s about presence. I’m sharing powerful stories of how spirit-led artists have witnessed their work become bridges to healing, hope, and revelation. When you create from a place of intimacy with God, your art naturally carries His presence—and that presence shifts things in the spiritual realm, often in ways you’ll never fully see on this side of eternity.
Key Takeaway: Your art isn’t just a gift—it’s a calling. When you create and share from the heart, God uses it to create sacred intersections where heaven touches earth.
This modern worship anthem invites us to open the doors of our hearts and “let the light in.” It’s a beautiful reminder that what God shines into us, we’re meant to shine out into the world. Let it inspire you to be bold, transparent, and joyful as you create this week.
FEATURED ARTIST: Beth Affolter
Letting Go, Leaning In, and CoCreating with God 📍 Website | 📱 Instagram
For Beth Affolter, creating art isn’t just an activity—it’s a sacred collaboration. As a painter, teacher, and mentor, Beth has dedicated her life to helping others experience the joy of CoCreating with God—and she’s living proof that the creative journey can be one of both transformation and triumph.
Beth works primarily in acrylic and oils, with a thriving business that includes live wedding paintings, art instruction, and spiritual mentoring. Her heart is to awaken creativity in others and help them recognize that artistic expression isn’t just a gift—it’s part of our divine DNA. “I believe creativity is in us all,” she says. “It’s inherited and deeply woven into who we are.”
“CTT completely lifted and changed my life. I let go of so many lies I’d been fostering and came into deeper intimacy with Christ. Now, I’m creating a beautiful business with God at the center—and it’s exactly where I’m supposed to be.”
Beth spent years striving on her own, trying to make it all work through sheer effort. “I felt completely empty,” she admits. “But when I entered CTT, everything clicked. I realized it’s not about performance—it’s about the process, and glorifying Him through it.”
That surrender has led to powerful moments, including one unforgettable piece she painted during a Bible study. Prompted by the Holy Spirit, she began adding textures and colors to worship music, not knowing where it would lead. The result? A piece that won first place in a state art show, brought light into a spiritually dark environment, and eventually brought a young woman to tears—leading her boyfriend to purchase it for her. “God showed up big time,” Beth says. “That piece was saturated with His presence.”
Beth’s spiritual and creative rhythm is rooted in worship music, which she uses to enter into God’s presence before she paints. “I get lost in the music, then the worship, and then I am really connected to the work.”
Her encouragement to fellow artists is heartfelt and hard-won: 🎨 “Don’t give up—lean in closer to God. Not every piece will be a masterpiece, and that’s OK. It’s about the journey.”
Now part of the Created to Thrive Mastery Program, Beth is learning to balance discipline with grace with personal one-on-one and small group artist mentoring led by Matt & Tanya Tommey. She’s spending more time in the studio, renewing her mind daily, and—perhaps most importantly—letting go of the need to prove herself. “I’m also looking at my numbers more intentionally and adjusting where needed. God is in the details, too.”
Beth’s journey is a radiant example of what happens when we stop striving and start partnering—with the Holy Spirit, with the creative process, and with the purpose God has placed in us all.

As children of God, we’ve been invited into His supernatural process of creativity to reveal and reflect His glory in the world. Our lives are meant to be an overflow of His presence—an intersection point where heaven meets earth through us.
One of the most beautiful ways we walk that out is by following Jesus’ example: taking what’s natural, speaking life to it through the power of the Holy Spirit, and watching God transform it into a supernatural expression of His glory (John 14:12, Romans 8:11).
God modeled this from the beginning. He could’ve spoken humanity into existence with a word—just like He did the sun, moon, and stars. But He didn’t. He chose to stoop down, take the dirt of the earth, form it with His hands, and breathe His very life into it (Genesis 2:7). That wasn’t just about creating man—it was about modeling a divine process. He wanted us to see that transformation often comes when heaven touches earth through willing hands.
Of course, we know in the Kingdom we have authority to speak things into being. Proverbs 18:21 reminds us that “life and death are in the power of the tongue,” and Romans 4:17 declares that we can call those things which do not exist as though they did. When we pray in faith and align our words with God’s will, heaven responds.
But there’s another dimension of supernatural living I want to highlight—one that’s hands-on and participatory. When Jesus performed His first miracle at the wedding in Cana, it wasn’t flashy or self-promoting. He wasn’t trying to make a name for Himself. He was moved by compassion and love for His mother. Quietly and intentionally, He turned water into wine—not just any wine, but the best wine—because that’s what love does (John 2:1–11).
That act was simple yet profound: a moment of honor, love, and faith. He took something ordinary and transformed it for Kingdom purpose. And He did it without fanfare.
Later, when Jesus encountered the blind man, He didn’t just heal him with a word. He got His hands dirty—literally. He spit into the dust and formed mud. He took something of Himself and something from the earth, combining them in a supernatural process that restored sight (John 9:6–7). That wasn’t just a healing—it was a prophetic picture.
Jesus, the Living Word, blended heaven and earth in His own hands and released the power of the Kingdom. What was once dirt became destiny. Those weren’t just mudballs—they were miracles in the making.
That same pattern shows up all throughout Scripture. God places something in the hands of His people—a rod, a jar of oil, five loaves and two fish—and invites them to trust Him. Through obedience and faith, the natural becomes the setting for supernatural release (Exodus 14:16, 2 Kings 4:1–7, John 6:1–13).
Despite what religious ivory towers may teach, the supernatural life isn’t a thing of the past. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us (Romans 8:11). Jesus said we would do the works He did—and even greater (John 14:12). That’s not a metaphor. That’s a mandate.
Jesus came not only to redeem and restore us but to model how to operate supernaturally in the natural world. Not just by speaking things into existence, but by exercising dominion over the earth through faith, obedience, and creative partnership with the Father.
So let me ask you: What mudballs has the Lord placed in your hands? What ordinary thing could become extraordinary under the influence of your faith and His grace?
You weren’t placed in this world just to pray for change—you were born to release the Kingdom. God has already placed ideas, resources, relationships, and opportunities around you. Ask Him to show you how to use what you’ve got to bring Him glory and transform lives.
When heaven touches earth through you, miracles happen.
One of the greatest joys we have as artists walking with the Lord is the freedom to explore, play, and experiment in our creativity without fear. As Isaiah 43:19 reminds us, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” This isn’t just a poetic verse—it’s a personal invitation from God to open your eyes to new pathways, fresh ideas, and Spirit-led surprises. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin. You just have to be willing to say yes and take the next step in faith.
This week, I want to encourage you to lean into joyful experimentation—not just in your art, but in the way you show up in the world. What if that new technique you’ve been considering, that collaboration you’ve been postponing, or even that organizational tool you’ve avoided could be the key to a creative breakthrough? Try something new. Share it. Celebrate what God is birthing in you. The world doesn’t need your perfection—it needs your presence, your process, and your willingness to keep showing up.
May this week be filled with intentional reflection, creative breakthroughs, and meaningful connection with the Creator who put that beautiful imagination inside you.

Scripture: “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” – Isaiah 43:19 (NIV)
When God speaks of doing something new, He’s not just talking about external change—He’s talking about inner transformation and Spirit-led vision. As artists, we are often the first to sense the stirring of something fresh on the horizon. But sensing is not the same as seeing. To perceive the “new thing,” we must stay spiritually alert, rooted in God’s presence, and willing to release the old.
Prayer: Father, thank You for being the God of new beginnings. Help me to see where You’re moving in my life and art. Give me eyes to perceive, ears to hear, and a heart that responds in faith. I want to walk with You in joyful obedience as You lead me into the new. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
Spiritual Action Step: Spend 10 minutes today asking the Lord: “What new thing are You doing in me this season?” Journal your impressions and pray into them daily this week.
CLARIFY
When we talk about joyful experimentation, it’s easy to think that means chaotic play. But Spirit-led experimentation is purposeful. It involves aligning with what God is doing and giving yourself grace to explore, test, and iterate—without judgment or pressure to get it all right. You don’t need a full map—just a willingness to follow God’s whispers one step at a time.
Take a moment to ask yourself: “Where is God inviting me to explore something new this week?” It could be a creative idea, a relationship, or a way of organizing your workflow. The goal is to stay open while still being intentional.
Action Step: Write down 3 small “experiments” you could try this week in your creative life or business. Pick one and take action on it today.
CREATE
As artists, we sometimes get stuck in routines that feel safe but stale. Joyful experimentation invites us to reawaken curiosity and risk in our creative process. That doesn’t mean abandoning skill or excellence—it means opening ourselves to being surprised again by the creative Spirit of God. Whether it’s a new material, color palette, or theme, experimentation is where growth lives.
Isaiah 43:19 reminds us that God is always moving forward—creating streams in wastelands and making ways in the wilderness. That same forward-moving Spirit lives in you. Your art doesn’t have to stay stuck in yesterday’s expression. The new thing is here. Step into it.
Studio Action Step: Choose one unfamiliar medium, technique, or tool and spend 30 minutes creating something just for the joy of discovery. No pressure—just play.
CULTIVATE
Joyful experimentation doesn’t just apply to your studio—it applies to how you connect with others, too. This is the perfect week to try something new in how you build relationships with your audience or collaborators. Maybe it’s sharing a behind-the-scenes video, asking for feedback, or starting a new conversation with a fellow artist.
People connect to authenticity and joy far more than polished perfection. As you courageously try new ways to engage, you not only build trust but invite others to journey alongside you. That kind of vulnerability builds community—and ultimately, that’s what sells art and makes a lasting Kingdom impact.
Outreach Action Step: Share one piece of your current creative “experiment” on social media or with your email list. Ask your audience: “What do you see in this?” You might be surprised how it sparks connection.
TECH TIP FOR THRIVING
Tool: Google Drive Tip: Simplify and showcase your portfolio
Google Drive is more than just cloud storage—it’s your virtual art studio assistant. One of the most effective ways to keep your art life organized is to curate your portfolio in a clean, easily shareable way. This is especially helpful when applying to shows, seeking commissions, or collaborating.
Try This: Create a folder labeled “Art Portfolio.” Upload 10 high-quality images of your best work, name each file clearly, and include a short description or title in a Google Doc. Share the folder link with a trusted friend, coach, or client for feedback.
Transforming a Corner of D.C. into a Canvas of Hope
In Southeast Washington, muralists Dietrich Williams and Mark Garrett are doing more than painting walls—they’re restoring a community. What began as a forgotten laundromat has become a beacon of color and connection through the Capital Hill Boys Club. Their latest achievement? The Anacostia Mural Festival, featuring over 70 artists honoring cultural icons and uplifting local voices.
This is what faith-filled art can do: beautify brokenness, elevate stories, and build bridges of hope. Their story is your call to action—what corner of your community is waiting for the beauty only you can bring?
Podcast Episode: Unleashing Creativity through Play
Ever felt a twinge of guilt for “just playing around” in the studio while deadlines loom or commissions wait? This week’s episode is a deep dive into why those moments of unstructured, joyful experimentation are not a waste of time—but a vital part of both your creative growth and spiritual journey.
I share personal stories from my own practice—like discovering new materials while gardening or exploring encaustic wax techniques—that completely reshaped my artistic voice. What started as playful curiosity became Holy Spirit-led breakthroughs that defined my work. Creative play taps into the childlike wonder Jesus spoke about in Matthew 18:3 and echoes Isaiah 43:19: “See, I am doing a new thing!”
Key Takeaway: God’s not disappointed when we experiment—He delights in it. Those playful studio moments might just be the birthplace of your next creative breakthrough.
This week’s song, New Wine, speaks deeply to the process of God creating something new within us. It’s about surrender, renewal, and allowing the pressure of the season to bring forth fresh oil, fresh fire, and fresh wine. If you’re in a season of experimentation or stretching, this is your anthem.
Put it on in your studio or during your quiet time and let the Spirit renew you.
FEATURED ARTIST: Aubrie Galey
Following the Spirit Through Shape, Color, and the Doors God Opens 📍 Website | 📱 Instagram
For Aubrie Galey, abstract art isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s a soul-level exploration of emotion, divine imagery, and creative surrender.
Aubrie works intuitively with ink and acrylic on paper, beginning each piece with spontaneous ink marks and allowing the process to unfold from there. Her work is a visual language of color and shape, constantly seeking to give form to elusive emotional experiences that words can’t quite touch.
“When I’m creating, it’s the only time my mind completely shuts off,” she shares. “I feel myself being led rather than consciously making decisions. It’s peaceful, quiet, and deeply spiritual.”
As an artist and believer, Aubrie often receives guidance from God through dreams and visionary imagery. One particularly powerful moment came when she was overwhelmed by a vivid inner image: a jungle made entirely of glass. “It was unlike anything I’d ever experienced. I sensed it was a glimpse of what my soul looks like. My art practice became the place to explore what that image meant.”
Aubrie also serves as an Activities Director at a health and rehab center, where she shares her creative passion with residents through art-making experiences. “It’s created a sense of community and joy for them,” she says, “and it’s incredibly rewarding to witness creativity come alive in that setting.”
Her spiritual rhythm includes daily prayer walks with her dog—a grounding habit that helps her surrender worry, receive insight, and return home filled with gratitude and clarity. “I often do my best thinking while I’m moving and praying,” she says. “I jot down the insights in a journal as soon as I get back.”
Aubrie’s creative journey hasn’t been a straight line. She’s held other jobs for financial stability, but art has always called her back. Now, she’s courageously stepping into art as a career—trusting God with the open doors and divine timing.
🎨 “It’s not just about hard work—it’s about following the path God opens. Detours don’t disqualify us. God uses them for our good.”
Recently, Aubrie’s art has been accepted into several local art shops, and while breaking into the Asheville gallery scene has been challenging, she’s staying alert to new opportunities and walking through each door God opens with faith.
Whether on paper or through prayer, Aubrie’s life is a living canvas of trust, beauty, and bold surrender—reminding us all that God can take even the most uncertain path and shape it into something full of meaning and light.

Have you ever felt stuck creatively, like you’re just repeating yourself in the studio? Maybe you’ve found a style that works or a product that sells, but deep down, there’s a part of you longing for something fresh, something new. If that’s you, I’ve got a word for you today: experiment—joyfully.
Yes, experiment. Not with pressure, not to “get it right,” but with joy and curiosity. Because one of the most powerful ways we cultivate our creative voice is by giving ourselves permission to play.
God Is Always Doing Something New
In Isaiah 43:19, the Lord says:
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?”
God is always at work, birthing new things in and through us as artists. But we don’t always perceive it—not because He’s not speaking, but because we’re not making space to listen. Joyful experimentation is one of the ways we create that space. It’s how we tune our hearts to the fresh movement of the Holy Spirit in our creative life.
My Journey into Play
Years ago, I felt led to explore some new materials in my studio—not because I had a plan, but simply because I was curious. I started fiddling with paperclay, encaustic wax, cold wax, and even bits of metal and bark I found in nature. No pressure, no expectations—just play.
I didn’t know it at the time, but those quiet moments of experimentation would eventually shape my entire artistic voice. What started as a fun diversion became a core part of my sculptural work. Today, those materials are some of the most recognizable and meaningful elements of what I create.
It didn’t happen because I chased a trend or followed a formula. It happened because I made space to explore—and God met me there.
When We Play, We Discover
There’s something deeply spiritual about playful exploration. It loosens the grip of perfectionism. It invites the Holy Spirit into the process. And it often awakens parts of our creative voice that were lying dormant.
In fact, I believe some of the most mature, meaningful artistic expressions emerge not from pressure, but from permission—permission to play, to wonder, to experiment.
Cultivating a Lifestyle of Exploration
If you’ve been feeling dry or stuck creatively, I want to encourage you to try something new this week. Not for a result. Not for a product. Just to explore.
Pick up a new medium.
Try a different texture or subject.
Combine tools or materials you normally wouldn’t.
Rearrange your studio to invite movement and inspiration.
Even 30 minutes of curiosity-led creativity can reawaken something powerful in your spirit. You never know what God will breathe on until you show up and play.
Final Thought
Friend, joyful experimentation isn’t a waste of time—it’s a vital part of the creative journey. It’s how we cultivate growth. It’s how we discover the new thing God is doing in us. And sometimes, those playful little moments in the studio become the very expression He uses to transform not only our art—but our lives.
We’ve all hit that invisible wall—the one where you show up to the studio with high hopes and leave discouraged, wondering where your spark went. This week, I want to speak directly into that moment. The truth is, creative blocks are not signs of failure—they’re invitations. They’re signposts that something deeper might be going on beneath the surface, something God wants to address, heal, or renew.
Philippians 4:13 reminds us that we can do all things—including push through creative resistance—through Christ who strengthens us. So if you’re facing a block right now, take heart. There is grace available. There’s clarity waiting on the other side of confusion. And there’s a river of creativity that flows when we lean into God’s presence instead of our performance.
May this week be filled with supernatural insight, released pressure, and a fresh awareness of God’s power flowing through your creativity.

Scripture: Philippians 4:13
Creative blocks don’t just appear out of nowhere—they often point to areas where we’ve believed lies, absorbed fear, or tried to operate in our own strength. Paul’s words in Philippians 4:13 aren’t about hustle. They’re about surrender. When we abide in Christ and depend on His strength, we’re not just empowered to create—we’re liberated to be fully ourselves.
Prayer: Jesus, I lay down every fear, every mental block, and every bit of pressure I’ve been carrying. I believe You’ve called me, and You will strengthen me. Speak into the dry places and reignite my heart with Your beauty. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
Spiritual Action Step: Identify one lie or pressure you’ve been carrying about your art, and write a biblical truth to replace it. Declare it aloud every time resistance surfaces.
CLARIFY
Sometimes the biggest block isn’t artistic—it’s mental clutter. Clarity often comes when we pause long enough to discern what’s draining us. Are you overcommitted? Overstimulated? Have you been comparing your work to others or working for validation instead of overflow?
God’s strength doesn’t rush—it flows. Take a moment to ask Him where your creative energy is getting stuck.
Reflection Prompt: What’s been clouding my focus or draining my passion this week?
Practical Action Step: Write out three clear, doable creative priorities for the week that align with peace and purpose—not pressure.
CREATE
Creative blocks are real, but they’re not permanent. Often, the best way to break through is not by waiting on inspiration—but by creating anyway. Give yourself permission to make without perfection. Just like priming a pump, consistent motion awakens momentum.
And remember, Jesus is with you in the process. Even your ‘messy’ art time can be a sacred offering.

Platform: Artrooms
Artrooms is a powerful app that lets you visualize your artwork in realistic interior settings—making your online presentation stronger and more engaging. Collectors want to imagine your art in their space. Artrooms helps them do just that.
Creative Tip: Upload three of your pieces to Artrooms and explore how they look in various room mockups. Choose one and share it on Instagram to boost engagement and professional polish.
In Millvale, Pennsylvania, a striking story of faith-driven art conservation is unfolding around the 80-year-old murals painted inside St. Nicholas Croatian Catholic Church by Maksimilijan ‘Maxo’ Vanka. These vivid murals, blending traditional religious imagery with bold social commentary, depict the struggles of immigrant mothers, war, and economic injustice—earning them the nickname ‘The Sistine Chapel of Pittsburgh.’
Thanks to the Society to Preserve the Millvale Murals, sections of the artwork were restored in May 2025, now shining as they did 80 years ago. Supported by grants and community outreach, this project reminds us that art can be a spiritual declaration and a tool for justice.
Takeaway: Think beyond the canvas. Could your next project preserve legacy, restore truth, or build community through beauty?

FEATURED ARTIST: Mark Lee
Redemption, Reinvention, and Art with a Second Chance 📍 Website | 📱 Instagram
For Mark Lee, creating art isn’t just about crafting something beautiful—it’s about telling a story of redemption, second chances, and the God who makes all things new.
Mark is the creative force behind One of a Kind NZ, where he repurposes vintage objects into functional, one-of-a-kind works of art. From clocks and lighting fixtures to Bluetooth stereos and sculptural pieces, his designs breathe new life into forgotten items. “I transform vintage objects that have outlived their original purpose,” he explains. “In many ways, my work mirrors my own journey—infused with themes of redemption and second chances.”
“When I was just getting started, CTT’s teaching, fellowship, and encouragement were invaluable. To realize there are so many others gifted and called to the creative arts—and to journey with them toward success and fulfillment—is amazing.”
Mark describes that unmistakable moment of creative joy when you’re completely aligned with your calling: “You’re working on a piece and you just know—you were 100% created for this.”
As he’s grown in his calling, Mark has found that the foundation for all he does is rooted in identity: 🎯 “It all starts with understanding how God sees me. Once we understand His love for us, it’s much easier to understand His purpose for us.”
That clarity has opened the door for many powerful God-moments—especially in the sale of his work. “What others may call coincidence or karma, I call God doing what He does,” he says. Mark regularly experiences divine timing and unexpected provision through his business. Whether it’s a high-end piece or a $7 card, he always stops to give thanks. “Every time I sell something, I thank God immediately. I recognize His hand in it all.”
In addition to being a skilled artist and craftsman, Mark also brings years of experience as a graphic designer, which shines through in his polished branding. Everything from his signage to his social media is a reflection of the excellence and thoughtfulness he puts into his creative business. It’s no surprise that other artists often ask him for guidance and advice.
Mark Lee’s work is a testament to what’s possible when artistry, identity, and purpose come together. Through every piece he creates, he’s not just restoring objects—he’s releasing hope, excellence, and the unmistakable touch of the Creator.

If you’re a believer, you must understand that any thought, feeling, or fear that tries to convince you God is distant from you or you are distant from Him is fundamentally anti-Christ.
Heres a few ways these sinister beliefs may show up:
1. Prayer as Begging Instead of Declaring: You find yourself constantly pleading with God as if you need to convince Him to help you, rather than praying from your position as His child with authority to speak His will into situations.
2. Shame Spirals After Sin: When you mess up, you withdraw from God and feel like you need to “get right” before approaching Him again, instead of running TO Him knowing His grace has already covered you.
3. Performance-Based Relationship: You measure your spiritual “temperature” by how much you read your Bible, prayed, or served this week, believing God’s love and blessing fluctuates based on your spiritual disciplines.
4. Fear-Driven Decision Making: You constantly second-guess yourself, afraid of missing God’s will or making the “wrong” choice, rather than trusting that He guides your steps and works all things together for good.
5. Powerless Victim Mentality: You see yourself at the mercy of circumstances, sickness, or spiritual attacks, forgetting that the same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you and has given you authority over the enemy.
Many sincere Christians live in internal prisons created by the religious spirit designed to keep them bound in a false understanding of their relationship with God. That somehow (even though the are already in Christ by grace through faith) they are still far away, performing for His love and acceptance.
Religious Hogwash.
Here’s what Scripture actually declares about your reality as a believer:
The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives IN YOU (Romans 8:11)
The Kingdom of God – His complete authority and dominion over all creation for all eternity – dwells within you (Luke 17:21)
You carry and can release resurrection power everywhere you go
The distance you feel? The weakness you experience? The limitations you accept? None of these reflect your true spiritual reality in Christ.
The only thing standing between you and walking in the fullness of what Jesus purchased for you is this: your willingness to intentionally renew your mind.
When you align your thoughts with God’s truth about who you are and what you carry, everything changes. You don’t need more of God. You need to recognize that God – in all His fullness – already lives in you.
What would change in your life if you truly believed this today?
Hey there, friend. Let me ask you a question: When was the last time you let your mind drift in peace, without guilt or pressure to “get something done”? As artists, we often find ourselves battling the tension between productivity and presence. But what if I told you that daydreaming—yes, that quiet, unstructured wandering of the mind—isn’t a waste of time, but a doorway to divine inspiration?
This week, I want to encourage you to step back, breathe deeply, and allow your thoughts to wander in the light of God’s truth. Philippians 4:8 reminds us to dwell on things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. That kind of thinking isn’t fluff—it’s fuel. It’s creative fertilizer that nourishes our inner world so something beautiful can grow on the canvas, the page, or in the studio.
May this week be filled with intentional reflection, creative breakthroughs, and meaningful connection with the Creator who put that beautiful imagination inside you.

Scripture:Philippians 4:8
In a noisy, fast-paced world, our thoughts can easily become scattered or focused on things that don’t align with God’s best for us. But Scripture gives us a beautiful filter in Philippians 4:8—a checklist of things worthy of our attention. As creative people, our thoughts often spark our next masterpiece. So why not fuel them with truth, beauty, and goodness?
God created our minds to be fertile soil for His inspiration. When we anchor our thoughts in what is noble, lovely, and admirable, we give the Holy Spirit a place to stir our creativity in ways that reflect His heart. Rather than chasing fleeting trends or comparing ourselves with others, we learn to stay grounded in what’s eternal.
Prayer: Father, train my thoughts to rest in what You say is lovely, pure, and worthy of praise. Let my imagination be shaped by Your truth, and may everything I create reflect the beauty of Your nature. Help me tune out the noise and tune into Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
Spiritual Action Step: Set a timer for 10–15 minutes each morning this week. Read Philippians 4:8 slowly, and then quietly sit with the Lord. Ask Him to show you how He sees you, your art, and the world. Write down any images, phrases, or impressions you receive.
CLARIFY
Creative overwhelm often stems from trying to do too much at once—or not being clear about what really matters. When we pause and clarify our goals in light of God’s direction, we stop chasing and start creating from a place of peace. This kind of clarity doesn’t come from hustling harder; it comes from aligning our priorities with Kingdom values.
You don’t have to accomplish everything this week. But you can move forward with purpose when your heart and goals are aligned with the truth. So take time to reflect—where is God leading you? What would bring the most life, joy, and alignment to your creative process this week?
Reflection Prompt: What goals have I been striving toward that no longer feel in alignment with where God is leading me creatively? What one or two things could I focus on this week that feel life-giving, meaningful, and aligned?
Practical Action Step: Choose three clear goals for your week that reflect your current season and God’s direction. Write them down and post them somewhere visible in your workspace. Let these goals become your creative compass.
CREATE
Let’s be honest—it can feel counterproductive to stop and do “nothing” when there’s so much to make, market, or manage in your art business. But your most meaningful work often comes not from effort alone but from giving your mind the space to breathe, play, and explore.
Mindful daydreaming isn’t escapism—it’s a sacred part of the creative process. It’s in those unstructured moments that God can whisper fresh ideas, patterns, metaphors, and colors that are uniquely yours. Think of it like letting a field lie fallow for a season so it can yield a better harvest.
Studio Inspiration: This week, pick one new medium, material, or subject you wouldn’t normally use. Don’t plan. Just play. Use the time as a creative “wander session” and don’t worry about the final product.
Creative Action Step: Each day, carve out 15–20 minutes where you step into your studio, not to produce, but to explore. Use that time to fiddle, doodle, layer, experiment, or even just journal. Record anything interesting that emerges without judgment.
CULTIVATE
People don’t just want to buy your art—they want to know you. They want to understand the story behind your work, what inspired it, and how your faith shows up in what you create. When you share your journey with vulnerability and intention, you invite your audience into something much bigger than just a transaction.
Connection creates trust. Trust leads to impact. And impact opens the door for deeper relationship and future opportunities.
Marketing Tip: Rather than just posting a finished piece online, consider writing a short narrative post or recording a voice memo to share the backstory behind your creative process. Tell your audience what you were thinking about, what God was speaking, or what challenge you overcame in the making of it.
Outreach Action Step: Share one story this week on social media or your email list about the process behind your favorite piece of the week. Include a photo or video and ask a thoughtful question to encourage engagement. Example: “Where do you see God showing up in your creative process lately?”

Seeds of Wonder – Nature as a Creative Spark
In a beautiful commentary published by STLPR, artist and writer Sarah Hermes Griesbach explores how seeds—yes, literal seeds—have become a vibrant metaphor for her creative life. She writes about the wonder of nature’s hidden potential, and how something so small and overlooked can carry within it a vast world of creative possibility. Her words remind us that inspiration often comes from the quiet, the humble, and the overlooked.
Whether you’re working in paint, clay, fabric, or metal, her reflections on the beauty of seeds will rekindle your sense of awe and invite you to see nature as both teacher and muse.
Have you ever had a brilliant idea while driving or walking that was gone five minutes later? Your phone’s Voice Memos app can be one of the most powerful (and underused) tools in your creative arsenal. It allows you to instantly capture inspired thoughts, project ideas, spontaneous prayers, or studio revelations—without needing to stop and write.
This is especially helpful for artists who think better out loud or who get “downloads” when their hands are busy but their hearts are open.
Pro Tip: Create a folder in your Voice Memos app titled “Creative Ideas” or “Holy Spirit Sparks.” When inspiration hits, hit record—even if you’re mid-paint or mid-walk. Later, you can transcribe or organize these thoughts into project plans, journal entries, or blog content.
Podcast Title:Mindful Daydreaming: Unlocking Creative Potential Listen Now
In this powerful episode, we unpack how purposeful reflection and spiritual daydreaming can become the fuel for creative flow. I share stories from my own artistic practice where moments of silence, margin, and imagination led to breakthroughs I never could have strategized. You’ll also hear simple, actionable ways to incorporate sacred rest into your week so your ideas can grow from within.
Key Takeaway: Creativity flourishes in wide, open spaces. When we slow down, God often speeds up the flow of inspiration and insight. Making room to dream is a powerful act of trust in your creative process—and in the God who leads it.

From Brokenness to Beauty—Painting Healing Through Every Stroke 📍 Website | 📱 Instagram
For Sandra Lett, art is more than her profession—it’s her calling, her healing, and her ministry.
Sandra has been a professional visual artist for 27 years, working with bold acrylic florals, birds, nature-inspired pieces, expressive portraits, alcohol inks, and vibrant resin home décor. But it was in a season of deep personal struggle—when her son was battling addiction and she was facing anxiety, depression, and spiritual warfare—that God met her in a powerful way through the Created to Thrive Artist Mentoring Program.
“Matt’s testimony came across my Facebook feed at a time when I was desperate for hope. His story touched me, and I jumped right in. CTT propelled me into a new season—one of healing, restoration, and powerful new vision.”
Sandra’s journey in the program opened her eyes to a new understanding: that art can be ministry. “I had been a Christian all my life,” she says, “but I had never heard that my art could be a ministry to others. That changed everything.”
One of her most powerful projects came through a Holy Spirit nudge to explore healing through brokenness. Inspired by the Japanese tradition of Kintsugi—the art of mending broken pottery with gold—Sandra created a series of six life-sized portraits called the Kintsugi Women, featuring raised gold-leaf cracks and stories of restoration. Not only did every piece sell, but her posts reached over 10,000 reactions on Facebook, with messages flooding in from people deeply touched by her vulnerability. “They told me, ‘You’re painting my story.’ But really—I was painting mine,” she says. “And God used it to minister to both of us.”
Each piece Sandra creates begins with prayer and intentional surrender. She invites God into every brushstroke, trusting Him for guidance and impact. “He never disappoints.”
Through her time in Created to Thrive, she’s learned to release control, receive Christian counseling, and surrender expectations for others while allowing God to do a deep inner work in her. That release, she says, brought breakthrough.
Her encouragement to other artists is as bold and clear as her color palette: 🎨 “Don’t resist change. Let go of what’s holding you back and ask God to give you new thoughts and creative anointing. He will.”
And when it comes to growing your art business? Sandra doesn’t mince words: 📢 “Put yourself out there. Post, post, post. Promote yourself, and allow God to do the rest. If your heart is aligned with Him, He’ll bring people to you.”
Sandra’s work continues to touch lives through beauty, transparency, and truth. And in every piece, she’s living proof that God can use art to bring light, healing, and hope—one canvas at a time.
Here’s a transformation video we did about Sandra several years ago. Enjoy!

Resources for Christian Artists
If you’re ready to grow as an artist in your faith, art and even business, then check out these affordable resources for artists just like you.
In a world saturated with creative content, developing a distinctive artistic voice isn’t just helpful—it’s essential. But here’s the thing: your unique voice isn’t some mystical quality that either strikes like lightning or remains forever elusive. It’s built through intentional design choices that become your creative DNA.
Beyond the “Squishy and Ethereal”: Making Voice Tangible
Too often, we talk about artistic voice in vague terms—”balance,” “harmony,” “style.” But these concepts only become powerful when we can identify the specific, replicable elements that create them. When you can look at ten pieces of your work lined up and see not only consistency within each piece but also consistency between pieces, that’s when you know you’re developing a true artistic voice.
The Five Pillars of Distinctive Design
1. Intentional Repetition: Your Visual Vocabulary
Repetition isn’t about being boring—it’s about creating a visual language that speaks fluently about who you are as an artist. This means:
Consistent use of specific elements (textures, shapes, forms)
Repeated compositional approaches that feel natural to you
Signature techniques that appear across multiple works
The key is making these repetitions feel organic, not forced. When elements naturally echo throughout your work, viewers begin to recognize your “handwriting” before they even see your signature.
2. Cohesive Color Relationships: Your Emotional Palette
Many distinctive artists work within deliberately limited color palettes. This isn’t a restriction—it’s a superpower. A cohesive color approach:
Creates immediate visual unity across your body of work
Allows you to master subtle variations within familiar territory
Builds emotional consistency that viewers can connect with
Makes your work instantly recognizable in any setting
Consider how your color choices reflect your personality, your environment, or your emotional response to the world.
3. Strategic Contrast: The Art of Visual Hierarchy
Effective contrast isn’t just about light versus dark—it’s about creating intentional focal points that guide the viewer’s eye exactly where you want it to go. This includes:
Value contrast (light against dark)
Textural contrast (smooth against rough)
Scale contrast (large elements supporting smaller details)
These physical choices become as distinctive as handwriting, creating tactile recognition even in photographs of your work.
The Development Process: From Intuition to Intention
Here’s what many artists don’t realize: you probably already have the beginnings of a unique voice—you just haven’t recognized and refined it yet. The development process involves:
Step 1: Recognition Look at your last 10-20 pieces. What elements keep showing up? What color combinations do you gravitate toward? What compositional approaches feel most natural?
Step 2: Intentional Repetition Once you identify your natural tendencies, begin using them more deliberately. If you naturally create circular compositions, explore that fully rather than fighting it.
Step 3: Systematic Refinement Treat each new piece as an opportunity to refine your visual vocabulary. Ask: “How can this piece strengthen the consistent elements that make my work recognizable?”
Beyond Copying: The Difference Between Influence and Imitation
Developing your voice doesn’t mean working in isolation. The goal isn’t to create something never seen before—it’s to filter everything through your unique perspective and preferences. When you see work that resonates with you, ask:
What specific design elements create that effect?
How could I achieve something similar using my own visual vocabulary?
What would this approach look like filtered through my color preferences, my compositional style, my material choices?
The Long Game: Building Recognition Over Time
A distinctive artistic voice isn’t built overnight. It emerges through:
Consistent practice within your chosen parameters
Gradual refinement of your signature elements
Confident commitment to your natural preferences
Thoughtful evolution rather than constant reinvention
Your Voice as Your Competitive Advantage
In our connected world, technical skill alone isn’t enough. Viewers are drawn to work that feels authentic, consistent, and emotionally resonant. When your artistic voice is strong and clear:
Collectors know what to expect from you
Your work becomes more memorable and shareable
You can command higher prices for your unique perspective
You build genuine connection with your ideal audience
The Permission to Be Yourself
Perhaps the most important element of developing your artistic voice is giving yourself permission to embrace what comes naturally. Your voice isn’t hiding somewhere “out there”—it’s already emerging in the choices you make instinctively.
The question isn’t “What should my artistic voice be?” It’s “What is my artistic voice trying to become, and how can I support that development?”
Your artistic voice is your creative fingerprint—unique, valuable, and entirely yours. By paying attention to the specific design elements that feel most authentic to you and developing them with intention, you create work that doesn’t just look good—it looks unmistakably like you.

Ready to take the next step in your artistic journey?
Hey my friend! Have you ever noticed how much better you feel after worshiping, praying out loud, or just letting your creativity flow without judgment? There’s a reason for that—and it’s not just spiritual.
It turns out, God wired your body with a built-in system of healing called the vagus nerve, and activating it is one of the simplest ways to calm your mind and body. Singing, praying aloud, creating—these aren’t just nice things to do. They’re transformational tools, both spiritually and physically.
This week, I want to help you connect the dots between your creative calling and your God-designed nervous system. Psalm 59:16 reminds us to “sing of Your power… and shout for joy in the morning”—because joy, peace, and healing are released when we open our mouths and engage with God’s presence. Whether you’re in a high moment or fighting through heaviness, your voice is a weapon and a healing balm. Don’t let the enemy keep you silent—lift your voice and watch peace flood your studio.

Activate Peace by Using Your Voice
“But as for me, I will sing about your power. Each morning I will sing with joy about your unfailing love.” — Psalm 59:16 NLT
God didn’t design you to suffer in silence. He designed your body to respond to worship. Speaking God’s Word aloud, singing in the Spirit, and declaring truth over your creative process actually stimulates the vagus nerve—bringing peace to your nervous system. It’s how faith and science beautifully collide.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for the gift of my voice. Help me use it to declare Your truth, sing Your praises, and partner with You in my creative process. Fill my space with Your presence and bring healing to my spirit, soul, and body as I lift up Your name. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
Action Step: Start and end each studio session this week by declaring Psalm 59:16 aloud. Let your voice set the spiritual tone in your space.

Focus Your Heart and Hands for the Week
With everything pulling at your attention, clarity is a gift you have to cultivate intentionally. Instead of letting your day run you, take a moment to pause and ask the Lord, “What’s my focus this week in the studio?” Is it starting something new, finishing a long-standing piece, reaching out to a collector, or simply creating in peace?
Clarity doesn’t come from doing more—it comes from alignment. When you start your week with God, He’ll help you focus on the right thing, not just the next thing.
Focus Prompt: What’s one specific action God is leading me to focus on creatively this week?
Action Step: Write your focus at the top of your planner or post it in your studio. Example: “This week, I will complete the background layers for my newest painting while staying in a posture of worship and trust.”
Let that clarity guide your decisions, your schedule, and your energy.

Making Art is Medicine
Did you know just 45 minutes of creative activity lowers cortisol, your body’s main stress hormone? And that’s true even if you don’t consider yourself “an artist.” Creating taps into your God-given design and brings healing from the inside out.
Creative Insight: Your time in the studio isn’t a luxury—it’s part of God’s prescription for your well-being.
Studio Action Step: Set a timer for 45 minutes this week and let yourself create freely without overthinking. Let your art be a response to God’s presence—not a performance.

Use Your Voice to Connect Authentically
When you share your art publicly, your voice is just as important as the visual. What you say about your work, your process, and your journey can invite others into deeper connection—not just with you, but with the Lord.
Marketing Tip: Record a short voice memo or video explaining the heart behind a piece you’re sharing this week. Post it alongside the art to increase engagement and connection.
Weekly Outreach Idea: Message 2–3 followers or collectors with a personal voice note thanking them for their encouragement. Watch how your authenticity opens doors.
TECH TIP FOR THRIVING
Tool: Voice Memos App (iPhone) or similar audio recorder
Tip: Use your smartphone’s voice recording app to capture spontaneous prayers, declarations, or worship songs during your creative time. These moments of Spirit-led expression can later bring encouragement, clarity, and healing.
Action Step: This week, take 5–10 minutes at the start or end of your creative time to record yourself speaking God’s Word over your journey. Play it back later to reinforce truth and remember what God is doing.
This Week’s Episode:How Worship & Creativity Heal Your Nervous System
Have you ever wondered why you feel physically better after worshiping or creating? In this episode, I explore the vagus nerve—the biological pathway that connects worship and creativity to peace in your body. From Acts 16 to scientific studies, we’re seeing that God’s design for your voice and creativity is more than spiritual—it’s therapeutic.
Key Takeaway: Worship, declaration, and creativity all activate your body’s healing mechanisms. Your voice is more powerful than you think.
This week’s worship recommendation is a powerful declaration song that aligns perfectly with our focus. “I Speak Jesus” by Charity Gayle is a bold anthem that reminds us of the authority and healing power in the name of Jesus. As you sing or listen, remember—your voice carries Heaven’s authority. Speak His name over your studio, your family, your creativity, and your mind.
🎶 “Your name is power, Your name is healing, Your name is life.”
FEATURED ARTIST: Mark Ford
A New Beginning on the Canvas and in Christ 📍 Website
For Mark Ford, the journey back to art wasn’t just a career pivot—it was a spiritual awakening. His rediscovery of painting coincided with a powerful move of God in his life, and since then, every brushstroke has become an act of worship.
Mark grew up along the coast, surrounded by the rhythms of tides, the beauty of seabirds, and the peaceful presence of marine life. Today, he brings those scenes to life through acrylic coastal paintings on canvas, capturing the essence of the shoreline he loves so much.
Art has always been close to Mark’s heart. “My mother was an artist with an impressive career,” he shares. “She introduced me to painting early on, and unlike my brothers, I was hooked.” His life has always been woven with creativity—from touring the country with his musically inclined family to working hands-on in the construction world. But when a construction-related health limitation forced him to stop working, Mark turned his attention back to art—and back to God.
That turning point was sparked by a gift from his daughter: Unlocking the Heart of the Artist by Matt Tommey. “The book was fantastic,” he recalls. “It gave me the inspiration and clarity I needed to start a real relationship with God.” And that relationship quickly became personal. “One night, God spoke to me in a dream. I saw a full-color sunrise over my favorite coastal spot, and He told me to paint it and name it A New Beginning.” Mark obeyed, and it marked the beginning of a Spirit-led creative journey.
Since then, Mark has experienced God’s grace and inspiration in his studio again and again. One special moment came when he felt led to paint a prophetic piece for his niece, who was struggling through law school. “God told me she needed something beautiful to remind her of her strength and support. I painted a group of ibis in the surf at Miami Beach and gave it to her.” She wept when she received it—and today, she’s a successful attorney. “Thank you, God!” Mark says with gratitude.
His spiritual rhythm is grounded in daily prayer and showing up in the studio consistently. His encouragement to others? 🙏 “Pray and worship God. Ask for His help, clean out the trash in your head, and LISTEN.”
Whether he’s painting waves, birds, or sunrise scenes, Mark Ford continues to create from a place of trust and obedience—sharing beauty, peace, and the presence of God with every piece.

Prayer: Holy Spirit, meet me in my studio today. Remind me that I’m not just creating alone—I’m co-creating with You. Let every brushstroke, sketch, and stitch become an offering that glorifies You. May this space be filled with Your peace, presence, and power. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

This week, shift your focus from output to overflow. It’s easy to get caught up in what needs to be done—deadlines, shows, inventory—but what if your primary goal was intimacy with the Creator in your creative process? Invite God to set your priorities as you intentionally cooperate with Him.
Strategic Reflection: Where have I been striving instead of abiding in my creative work?
Action Step: Write a one-sentence declaration that aligns your week with God’s leading. Example: “This week, I will create from a place of peace and presence, not pressure.”
CREATE
When your hands move in alignment with Heaven, your art becomes more than aesthetic—it becomes prophetic. Whether you’re finishing a painting, shaping clay, or weaving a piece, remember: your creativity is part of your Kingdom assignment.
Studio Action Step: Create one piece this week as a “firstfruits” offering—no pressure to sell or perfect it. Simply create with the Lord and ask Him what He wants to express through you.
CULTIVATE
People don’t just want to buy art—they want to feel something when they see it. And when your studio becomes holy ground, the art you make carries that presence with it. That’s something your audience can sense.
Marketing Tip: When posting your art, invite engagement that connects viewers to God’s Word. Ask: “Which verse or word does this piece remind you of?” Then respond to every comment to deepen the connection.
Weekly Outreach Idea: Post one new photo on your Facebook page or profile this week using that question. Then DM one or two thoughtful responders to thank them personally for engaging.
TECH TIP FOR THRIVING
Platform: Facebook Tool Tip: Don’t underestimate Facebook! It’s still one of the best places to build authentic relationships with your community.
Try this:
Post a new photo of your art.
Add the question: “Which verse or word does this piece remind you of?”
Engage thoughtfully with every comment to build genuine connection.
Episode: The Studio is Your Sanctuary – Creating with God, Not Just for Him
Ever felt that creative spark and wondered where it truly comes from? This week’s podcast explores the profound truth that your studio isn’t just a workspace—it’s sacred ground. Just like Bezalel and Oholiab in Exodus 35, you’ve been filled with God’s Spirit to create in ways that carry His presence into the world around you.
We’ll dive into the Hebrew roots of creativity—yetser (internal formation) and yatsar (external crafting)—and how your art becomes a powerful expression of what God is doing inside you. I’ll also share simple, practical ways to invite God’s presence into your creative space, whether it’s a full studio or a quiet corner in your home.
Key Takeaway: When you dedicate your space to the Lord and assume His nearness, your creativity becomes more than output—it becomes overflow. Your art transforms from decoration into declaration, and you shift from working for God to working with Him.
Tune in and share it with a fellow artist who needs to reclaim their creative space as holy ground.
To deepen this week’s theme—“Your Studio is Holy Ground”—immerse yourself in the live worship experience of Make Room by Kim Walker-Smith. This powerful anthem invites us to surrender our traditions and make space for God’s transformative presence. As you listen, let the lyrics inspire you to dedicate your creative space as sacred ground where divine collaboration unfolds.
Let this song set the atmosphere in your studio, turning your creative process into a holy encounter.
For Amy Peterman, painting the landscapes of Northern Michigan isn’t just about capturing scenic beauty—it’s about telling stories, connecting hearts, and releasing the comfort of God through every brushstroke.
When Amy joined the Created to Thrive Artist Mentoring Program, her focus was clear: she wanted to grow her art business and connect with a community of like-minded Christian creatives. But what she found went far deeper.
“CTT and the Mastery Program have been game-changers for me. Not only has my business grown, but I had no idea God would do such deep work in my heart. It’s the best investment I’ve made for my art and my heart.”
Amy is a gifted landscape painter whose work resonates deeply with those who treasure the natural beauty of Northern Michigan. Many of her collectors are seeking to capture that love through original artwork for their homes—and Amy considers it a joy to help them do just that.
One powerful moment in her journey came during one of the 2-day destination Mastery Retreats, where fellow Created to Thrive member Beth Affolter led a Holy Spirit-led brain mapping session. “I very clearly heard God tell me I needed to paint trees,” Amy recalls. “Since then, they’ve been flowing off my brush—including my largest commission to date!”
Her work doesn’t just connect visually—it connects emotionally and spiritually. At an art fair last summer, one man tearfully purchased a print that reminded him of a cherished path to the beach near a friend’s cottage. That friend had passed away, and another could no longer travel. Holding the print, he said: “I know it’s not THAT path, but to me it is.” Amy reflects, “What an honor to think that God had me paint that as part of His plan to comfort this man.”
In the studio, Amy keeps a large Petoskey stone near her door—a visual reminder to release the mental weight she’s not meant to carry. “When I’m overwhelmed, I look at that stone and ask the Lord to take the heavy stuff so I can focus on what He’s called me to do.”
On the business side, she’s learning valuable lessons as she grows. “Have a clear commission agreement. Seriously—it will save you so many headaches.” And when it comes to perfectionism, Amy encourages artists not to get stuck in fear.
Her encouragement to fellow artists: 🎨 “You don’t have to do everything perfectly. Just get out there and do your thing! You’ll learn as you go—and if you’re doing the CTT modules, you’ve already got a huge advantage.”
Her outreach is working too—new clients are finding her through both social media and SEO, including a recent wholesale client who found her on Instagram and a commission client who simply searched “Michigan artist” online. WOW!
For Amy Peterman, art is about more than paint—it’s about presence. The presence of God, the power of memory, and the joy of knowing that her art can bring healing and hope, one piece at a time.

Finding Peace and Purpose Through Guided Artistic Growth
My friend, if you’re navigating a season of transition in your life or art career, you’re likely experiencing a mix of emotions—excitement about new possibilities, anxiety about the unknown, perhaps even grief for what you’re leaving behind.
Career transitions can be particularly challenging for artists. Whether you’re finally pursuing your art after years in another field, stepping into full-time creation after building your business on the side, or navigating an empty nest that now offers time for your creative calling—these pivotal moments can take a toll on your mental and emotional wellbeing.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
While this scripture offers beautiful reassurance, walking through transitions still requires tangible support. That’s where the profound mental health benefits of artist mentorship become so vital.
The Hidden Mental Health Challenges of Artistic Transitions
Before we explore the healing power of mentorship, let’s acknowledge the real mental health challenges that often accompany artistic career transitions:
1. Identity Disruption
When our roles or daily rhythms change, our sense of self can feel threatened or unclear. Artists often struggle with questions like “Who am I if I’m not _____?” or “Am I really an artist if I haven’t been creating professionally for years?”
2. Decision Fatigue
Creative transitions involve countless decisions—from practical business choices to artistic direction. This constant decision-making depletes mental energy and can lead to analysis paralysis.
3. Impostor Syndrome
This powerful form of self-doubt causes many artists to feel they don’t belong or aren’t “real artists,” especially when entering new territory or pursuing their calling later in life.
4. Isolation
Leaving familiar communities or routines often leads to feelings of disconnection precisely when support is most needed.
5. Financial Anxiety
Artistic transitions frequently involve financial uncertainty, creating stress that can block creative flow and undermine confidence.
6. Performance Pressure
The fear of failure or judgment increases during transitions, sometimes leading to perfectionism or creative blocks.
How Mentorship Creates Mental and Emotional Stability
The Created to Thrive Artist Mentorship Program was designed with these very challenges in mind, offering specific mental health benefits that create stability during times of change:
1. Identity Anchoring in Christ
Perhaps the most profound mental health benefit of faith-based mentorship is the reinforcement of your core identity—not in what you do, but in who God created you to be.
Biblical affirmations that replace anxiety with truth
Guidance in finding your unique artistic voice that reflects your divine design
Regular reminders of your value beyond productivity or success
Heart-level work that heals old wounds and limiting beliefs
As Gabe discovered after years of musical depression: “Since I have joined Matt Tommey’s mentoring group, I have seen marked change in a matter of weeks. The Truth that Matt speaks is setting me free — Jesus is setting me free.”
2. Clarity That Reduces Overwhelm
Mental health experts recognize that clarity reduces anxiety. Our mentorship program provides:
A clear, structured pathway that eliminates guesswork
Prioritization frameworks that help you focus on what matters most
Decision-making tools tailored to artists’ unique thinking styles
Step-by-step guidance that breaks overwhelming transitions into manageable steps
As Jill experienced: “Being a part of the Created to Thrive group has enabled me to gain wisdom and insight about the process of making and selling art that I’ve been unable to access on my own because of my limited experience.”
3. Validation That Counters Impostor Syndrome
The voices of doubt grow quieter when surrounded by affirming truth:
Expert validation of your artistic path and potential
Community confirmation that your experiences and feelings are normal
Regular feedback that highlights growth and progress
Stories of others who have navigated similar transitions successfully
When Julie faced self-doubt as a fiber artist, she found: “I found the strength to overcome the lies that kept me from embracing my call to be a thriving fiber artist in God’s Kingdom.”
4. Community That Heals Isolation
Human connection is a fundamental mental health need, especially during transitions:
Belonging in a community that understands your unique journey
Supportive relationships with fellow artists experiencing similar challenges
Regular group interaction through live Q&As, expert hours, and community chats
Private forum and Facebook group for daily connection and encouragement
Toni discovered this healing power of community: “Your mentoring group is the first real community I’ve experienced. I’m deeply humbled by it and realize the incredible amount of love and work you put into it.”
5. Financial Frameworks That Alleviate Anxiety
Financial stress is a leading cause of mental health challenges. Our program provides:
Clear business models tested by thousands of artists
Pricing confidence that ensures sustainable income
Multiple revenue stream development for stability
Kingdom perspective on provision and abundance
Ann from Oregon found this financial peace: “I have increased my art teaching income over 60% and am on my way to a 6-figure year after doing the Artist Cashflow Bootcamp and becoming a member of CTT!”
6. Process Orientation That Reduces Performance Pressure
By shifting focus from outcomes to process, mentorship creates mental space for growth:
Emphasis on faithful stewardship rather than worldly success metrics
Celebration of progress rather than perfection
Permission to learn and even fail as part of the journey
Tools for creating from flow rather than striving
The Neuroscience Behind Mentorship’s Mental Health Benefits
The mental health benefits of quality mentorship aren’t just anecdotal—they’re supported by neuroscience:
Stress Reduction Through Mirror Neurons
When we observe someone who has successfully navigated challenges similar to our own, our mirror neurons activate, helping us literally “see” possible positive outcomes. This reduces cortisol (stress hormone) levels and increases feelings of hope.
Dopamine Release Through Progressive Achievement
The step-by-step nature of mentorship programs creates regular “wins” that trigger dopamine release—the feel-good neurotransmitter associated with reward and motivation—creating positive momentum.
Oxytocin Increases Through Supportive Community
Group mentorship environments have the potential to stimulate oxytocin production—often called the “trust hormone”—which reduces anxiety and depression while increasing feelings of security and connection.
Cognitive Restructuring Through Guided Reflection
Mentorship processes often include reflective practices that help reframe limiting beliefs, activating the prefrontal cortex responsible for higher executive function and emotional regulation.
Real Stories of Mental and Emotional Transformation
Consider these powerful testimonies of mental and emotional healing through the Created to Thrive Artist Mentorship Program:
Jan: From Fear and Self-Sabotage to Confidence
“I pushed past my fear and self-sabotage to walk into my calling as a thriving full-time artist. The mentoring program gave me both the spiritual foundation and practical tools to make this transition with confidence.”
Wendy: Complete Emotional and Spiritual Renewal
“This mentoring program has been truly transformative for both my art business and my spiritual and emotional growth. Through its teachings, I’ve been able to refine my style and hone my skills, all while feeling deeply supported by the CTT team and its community.”
Amy: From Self-Doubt to Confident Direction
“Matt’s mentoring has encouraged me to be confident in doing the work I am called to do… I am taking myself and my art so much more seriously now. I know my work is good, I know what I am capable of and I am going for it.”
Finding Peace in Every Transition
When you’re in the midst of transition, the mental and emotional benefits of mentorship create a sanctuary of peace and purpose—a place where anxiety gives way to clarity, isolation transforms into connection, and doubt is replaced by confident action.
As Mary experienced: “I had no clue joining Created to Thrive required tearing down invisible walls I thought were torn down already… I felt God’s healing river flowing & began to feel improved – now I’m well. I do believe God’s healing river through your ministry will also bring increased wholeness.”
Your Mental Wellbeing Matters
My friend, your mental and emotional health are not separate from your artistic journey—they’re central to it. God cares deeply about your peace of mind and heart, especially during times of transition.
Quality mentorship provides not just practical guidance, but a holistic approach to thriving that honors the intimate connection between your mental wellbeing and your creative expression.
As you navigate your current or upcoming transition, you don’t have to do it alone, carrying the weight of uncertainty and change. There’s a community of artists who understand, a proven pathway to follow, and a mentor who cares about your whole person—not just your art.
I’m cheering you on toward both artistic success and genuine mental wellbeing!

Frequently Asked Questions About Mental Health and Mentorship
How can mentorship help with anxiety during an art career transition? Artist mentorship addresses anxiety during career transitions in several specific ways. First, it provides clarity and structure when everything feels uncertain—giving you a clear roadmap rather than leaving you to figure it out alone. Second, our faith-based approach grounds you in your identity in Christ rather than in shifting circumstances or outcomes. Third, the community aspect offers social support, which research consistently shows reduces anxiety. Finally, having a mentor who has successfully navigated similar challenges gives you a living example that progress is possible. Many members report that their anxiety begins to decrease within the first few weeks as they gain tools for managing uncertainty and start experiencing small wins.
I’m dealing with impostor syndrome as I transition to being a “real artist.” Will mentorship help? Impostor syndrome—that persistent feeling of being a fraud despite evidence of your competence—is one of the most common challenges artists face during transitions, and mentorship is one of the most effective remedies. The Created to Thrive program addresses impostor syndrome through several avenues: expert validation of your artistic legitimacy, community confirmation that your experiences are normal, Biblical truth that counters lies about your identity and worth, and concrete skill development that builds confidence. Many of our members, like Julie Bagamary and Jan Tetsutani whose stories are shared above, have overcome deep-seated impostor syndrome through the combination of spiritual anchoring and practical skill development that our mentorship program provides.
Does the mentorship program address burnout or creative exhaustion? Yes, addressing burnout and creative exhaustion is a key aspect of our program. Many artists come to us already experiencing these conditions or at high risk due to unhealthy patterns. The Created to Thrive mentorship approach includes several elements that specifically combat burnout: teaching Spirit-led creation practices that emphasize flow over striving, providing practical tools for establishing sustainable creative rhythms, offering Kingdom perspectives on rest and renewal, and creating permission for periods of creative restoration. Members frequently report that one of the first benefits they notice is a renewed sense of energy and passion for their art as they learn to create from a place of peace rather than pressure.
I’m already seeing a therapist for anxiety. How would mentorship complement this? Mentorship works beautifully alongside professional mental health therapy, and many of our members engage in both simultaneously. While therapy provides valuable clinical support for addressing underlying mental health conditions, mentorship offers artist-specific guidance from a Christian perspective for navigating the unique challenges of an artistic career. Think of therapy as working on the foundation of your mental health house, while mentorship helps you build the specific rooms related to your artistic calling. The Created to Thrive program complements therapy by providing art-specific frameworks, spiritual perspectives, practical business guidance, and a supportive community that understands the unique intersection of creativity, faith, and career development. Many members find that the combination of professional therapy and artistic mentorship creates a powerful synergy for holistic wellbeing.
Real Stories of Transformation from the Created to Thrive Community
My friend, you’ve probably heard me share about the power of artist mentorship, but today I want to step back and let the voices of our Created to Thrive Artist Mentoring community speak directly to you—artists just like you who took a step of faith and found their lives and creative practices transformed through quality mentorship.
These aren’t just success stories—they’re testimonies of God’s faithfulness when we say “yes” to the journey He’s inviting us into.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28
Overcoming Limiting Beliefs and Finding Confidence
Julie Bagamary: From Self-Doubt to Embracing Her Calling
“I found the strength to overcome the lies that kept me from embracing my call to be a thriving fiber artist in God’s Kingdom. The mentoring program has helped me transform my thinking and see myself through God’s eyes.”
Julie’s journey represents what so many artists experience—that moment when the lies that have held them back for years finally lose their power through community, mentoring, and alignment with God’s truth.
Rachel Painter: Rejection Transformed into Divine Redirection
“After being rejected from art school and thinking my dream of being an artist might never come true, my life was transformed through the mentoring program. My growth accelerated and my entire life was transformed as I stepped into God’s calling for my art.”
Rachel’s story reminds us that rejection isn’t the end of the story—sometimes it’s just the beginning of a different, more aligned path that God had in mind all along.
Financial Transformation and Business Growth
Ann from Oregon: From Struggling to Six Figures
“I have increased my art teaching income over 60% and am on my way to a 6-figure year after doing the Artist Cashflow Bootcamp and becoming a member of CTT!”
Ann’s experience shows us what’s possible when artists receive not just inspiration, but practical, proven business strategies specifically designed for the creative mind.
Lance from Wisconsin: Quadrupling His Art Income
“Since I joined the mentoring program and started doing the work, I’ve increased my art business income by over 4x!”
Notice Lance’s key phrase: “and started doing the work.” Quality mentorship provides the roadmap, but it’s those who implement with consistency who see these kinds of remarkable results.
Lisa from California: $60K Growth in Art Business Revenue
“After becoming a member of CTT and implementing Matt’s teachings, I’ve increased my art business income from $32k to over $92K!”
Lisa’s testimony powerfully illustrates that professional-level income isn’t reserved for a select few in the art world—it’s available to committed artists who learn and apply the right principles.
Breaking Free from Stuckness and Self-Sabotage
Maria from Texas: From Debt to Passive Income and Gallery Success
“Within months I got out of debt, created passive income, stopped self-sabotaging. A year later I have a great monthly membership course and a cool gallery representing me.”
Maria’s journey highlights the comprehensive transformation possible through quality mentorship—financial healing, mindset renewal, and new opportunities that seemed impossible before.
Jan Tetsutani: From Self-Sabotage to Thriving Full-Time Artist
“I pushed past my fear and self-sabotage to walk into my calling as a thriving full-time artist. The mentoring program gave me both the spiritual foundation and practical tools to make this transition with confidence.”
Jan’s story speaks to the artists who know they’re called but have been held back by fear—showing that with the right support, breakthrough is not just possible but inevitable.
Finding Community and Belonging
Toni Wesner: Discovering Authentic Artistic Community
“My first Mastermind group call was this past Thursday… it was amazing! God was showing me the vital importance and blessing of community. Your mentoring group is the first real community I’ve experienced, Matt. I’m deeply humbled by it and realize the incredible amount of love and work you put into it.”
Toni’s experience reflects the deep longing many artists have—not just for techniques or business strategies, but for genuine connection with others who understand their journey.
Wendy B: Spiritual, Emotional, and Business Transformation
“This mentoring program has been truly transformative for both my art business and my spiritual and emotional growth. Through its teachings, I’ve been able to refine my style and hone my skills, all while feeling deeply supported by the CTT team and its community. It’s honestly ‘the best’ and has been a constant source of inspiration and blessing in my life.”
Wendy’s testimony beautifully captures the holistic nature of true mentorship—touching every aspect of the artist’s life, not just their creative techniques.
Clarity, Direction, and Purpose
Amy Kane Smith: Finding Confidence and Direction
“Being a part of the Created to Thrive group has been a huge benefit to me in my art practice and business. Matt’s mentoring has encouraged me to be confident in doing the work I am called to do. I have also been able to really narrow my focus and begin to formulate and work a plan to take my art business to the next level. I am taking myself and my art so much more seriously now. I know my work is good, I know what I am capable of and I am going for it.”
Amy’s journey illustrates the power of clarity—how finding focus and direction can transform not just what you create, but how you see yourself as an artist.
Jill Williams: Integration of Spiritual and Artistic Growth
“Being a part of the Created to Thrive group has enabled me to gain wisdom and insight about the process of making and selling art that I’ve been unable to access on my own because of my limited experience. Matt acknowledges that success is different for each person and doesn’t force a one-dimensional agenda. He’s also very generous with practical information and I’m learning that my spiritual and artistic growth are completely connected and should develop accordingly to experience true peace in my process.”
Jill’s testimony speaks to the unique integration of faith and art that sets Kingdom-minded mentorship apart—recognizing that true artistic flourishing happens when we align with our spiritual design.
Healing and Hope Restored
Gabe Gibitz: Breaking Through Depression After Years of Struggle
“After releasing three albums independently, I hit a dark valley of depression with my music that didn’t lift for four years. Nothing seemed to help. I tried self-motivation, goal setting, counseling and even deliverance sessions. Since I have joined Matt Tommey’s mentoring group, I have seen marked change in a matter of weeks. The Truth that Matt speaks is setting me free — Jesus is setting me free.”
Gabe’s powerful story reminds us that artistic blocks often have deeper spiritual roots—and that true healing comes through truth, community, and realignment with God’s heart.
Shanon Roberts: From Discouragement to Breakthrough Sales
“I had a major breakthrough and started successfully selling my art just 2 months after joining Created to Thrive! After years of feeling like my art wasn’t ‘good enough,’ I finally found the confidence and practical steps to share my work with the world—and the response has been incredible.”
Shanon’s experience shows how quickly transformation can happen when artists find the right support at the right time.
Marriage and Family Transformation
Couples Finding Harmony in Art and Life
Many couples in our community have shared how mentorship has strengthened not just their art businesses, but their marriages as well:
“Thriving in their Marriage & Art Business – This couple has found new joy and purpose as they built their art business together, strengthening their marriage while pursuing their creative calling.”
When both partners understand the unique challenges and opportunities of the artistic journey, deeper connection and collaboration become possible.
Men’s Journeys: How Male Artists Find Transformation in the Created to Thrive Community
While Created to Thrive serves artists of all backgrounds, many men in our community have found unique value in the program’s blend of spiritual guidance, practical business instruction, and authentic community. For male artists who may have struggled with vulnerability, career transitions, or balancing family responsibilities with creative calling, the mentorship program offers both the structure and support needed to thrive.
Matt Philleo: From Fear and Doubt to Flourishing Portrait Art
Matt Philleo’s journey as a portrait painter was marked by a familiar struggle—a heart full of artistic dreams but a mind filled with doubt. Though skilled in creating luminous acrylic portraits with his unique glazing technique, Matt hesitated to fully embrace his calling.
“What do you believe God has called you to do?” his mother-in-law once asked. Matt’s answer revealed his inner conflict: he longed to paint full-time but questioned whether he could trust God for provision.
In 2009, Matt took that leap into full-time artistry with initial success. But when portrait commissions suddenly dried up, leaving his family financially vulnerable, he found himself at a crossroads familiar to many male artists—questioning his decision and feeling the weight of provider responsibilities.
Everything changed when Matt discovered the Created to Thrive program. Beyond just art techniques and marketing strategies, Matt found something more valuable—a renewed foundation for his identity as both an artist and a man of faith.
“The program helped me understand that my worth wasn’t tied to my financial success, but my financial success could flow from my alignment with God’s purpose,” Matt shares. “I went from questioning my calling to confidently building a thriving portrait business with a steady stream of commissions.”
Today, Matt teaches art classes from a beautiful studio on five acres of land—tangible evidence of the transformation that began with addressing the core beliefs that had limited both his art and his life.
Phillip Ortiz: Breaking Through Financial Barriers
For Phillip Ortiz, a graphic designer and artist from Kansas City, the challenge wasn’t a lack of technical skill—it was a seemingly immovable financial ceiling that kept him struggling despite years of experience.
Working from his basement as a freelance designer, Phillip felt trapped by financial limitations that affected not just his art but his sense of purpose as a husband and father. The stress and frustration became constant companions.
“I was skeptical at first,” Phillip admits about discovering Matt Tommey’s work through a friend’s Facebook link. “I’d seen plenty of programs promising transformation, but something about Matt’s message resonated differently—it spoke to both the artist and the provider in me.”
What surprised Phillip most about joining Created to Thrive were the introductory “heart modules.” As someone with years of industry experience, he expected to focus primarily on business strategies. Instead, he found himself examining his fundamental relationship with both his art and himself.
“That’s when I realized the breakthrough I needed wasn’t just about technique or marketing—it was about aligning my vision with God’s provision,” Phillip explains. “Just like Peter, the professional fisherman who caught nothing until he followed divine guidance, I needed to listen and align my actions with God’s plan for my work.”
This shift transformed Phillip’s approach to both his art business and his family life, allowing him to break through the financial barriers that had previously limited his success.
“You don’t have to create from pressure; you can create from life, joy, and the goodness of God,” Phillip now encourages other male artists. “That’s a game-changer not just for your art, but for how you show up in every area of your life.”
Gabriel Stockton: Finding Direction and Community as a Watercolorist
As a watercolor artist, Gabriel Stockton appreciated the fluidity and spontaneity of his medium, but his creative practice lacked the structure and purpose needed for sustainable growth. Like many male artists, Gabriel enjoyed the solitary aspects of creation but hadn’t yet discovered the power of intentional community.
“I was creating beautiful pieces, but without a clear strategy or purpose,” Gabriel reflects. “As both an artist and a father, I felt disconnected from any sense of artistic community that could help me navigate both roles effectively.”
The Created to Thrive program introduced Gabriel to structured goal-setting that transformed his approach. Rather than seeing planning as restrictive to his creativity, he discovered how intentional strategy could actually enhance his artistic freedom and productivity.
But the most profound transformation came through the program’s emphasis on community connection. For Gabriel, who had primarily viewed art as a solitary pursuit, discovering the value of transparent relationships with fellow artists was revolutionary.
“The vulnerability I found within the group—particularly among the other men—changed everything,” Gabriel shares. “We could openly discuss not just art techniques, but the challenges of balancing creative work with family life, financial pressures, and spiritual growth.”
This newfound community empowered Gabriel to embrace a role he hadn’t previously considered—mentoring other artists. He realized that his journey wasn’t just about personal achievement but building relationships that nurtured both artistic and spiritual growth.
“I’ve learned that strength comes not just from mastering your craft, but from connecting authentically with others who understand your struggles and celebrate your victories,” Gabriel says. “That’s a lesson that has transformed both my art and my role as a husband and father.”
Trace Chiodo: Aligning Passion with Purpose
After 25 years as a graphic designer, Trace Chiodo had developed impressive technical skills in digital art, illustration, and photography. His work beautifully integrated his lifelong passions for golf and fishing—creating unique pieces that captivated art lovers.
But despite his experience and talent, Trace faced financial uncertainty and lacked clarity about how to navigate the art market independently after years of working for others.
“I needed more than just better marketing techniques,” Trace explains. “As a man of faith, I wanted my entire approach to art to reflect my belief in living by faith. I was searching for a way to fully align my artistic career with God’s purpose.”
The Kingdom-focused approach of the Created to Thrive program provided exactly what Trace was seeking—a mentorship experience that addressed both artistic growth and spiritual alignment. Through the program, Trace experienced concrete transformations:
“I now have my own dedicated studio space, which has been crucial for my creative process,” Trace shares. “I’ve developed additional income streams that provide stability for my family. I’m exhibiting beyond just local art centers, and more people are discovering and connecting with my work.”
For Trace, the mentorship program offered a holistic framework that honored his desire to be both successful in business and faithful to his spiritual convictions—a balance that many male artists struggle to achieve.
“The program gave me permission to pursue excellence in both my art and my business without compromising my values,” Trace says. “That integration has been the key to becoming truly successful as an artist and as a man.”
The Unique Value for Men in Artistic Community
These stories highlight how male artists in the Created to Thrive community have found unique value in a program that addresses their specific challenges:
Identity and Purpose: Many men struggle with questions of identity when pursuing creative careers. The program helps them integrate their artistic calling with their sense of purpose and responsibility.
Authentic Vulnerability: The community provides a safe space for men to be vulnerable about their struggles without fear of judgment—often a rare experience in male-dominated environments.
Practical Stewardship: The program’s emphasis on good business practices resonates with men’s desire to be good stewards of their talents and resources.
Integrated Faith: For men of faith, the program offers a way to align their creative careers with their spiritual values without compromise.
Balancing Roles: Many male artists in the program have found strategies for balancing their artistic calling with their roles as husbands, fathers, and providers.
Through the testimonies of artists like Matt, Phillip, Gabriel, and Trace, we see how the Created to Thrive program addresses the whole person—not just artistic technique or business strategy, but the heart, mind, and spirit of the artist. For these men and many others in our community, this holistic approach has been the key to lasting transformation in both their art and their lives.

Each journey is unique—reflecting God’s individual design for each artist—yet all share common threads of breakthrough, growth, and alignment with divine purpose.

If you are ready to stop making excuses and get to work on stepping fully into the artist God created you to be, you need to go sign up!”
My friend, I believe your story of transformation is waiting to be written—and it could begin today. What limiting beliefs, financial challenges, creative blocks, or sense of isolation might be overcome through the right mentorship community?
As Judy Goddard wisely observed: “Matt Tommey is a successful artist whose love of the Lord is deep and intimate. That relationship informs every part of his life. He is sharing what he’s learned on his spiritual journey, as it pertains to thriving and prospering as an artist. I highly recommend that any Christian who has been called to the arts, and desires to flourish in them, work with Matt and see the difference it will make in their lives.”
The question isn’t whether transformation is possible—these testimonials prove that it is. The question is whether you’re ready to say “yes” to the journey God has for you.
